Pension Patrik — Hotel in Ilirska Bistrica

Surprise gem. Whilst en route to Mlini and keen to find somewhere to sleep, we spied this hotel from the road. Patrik's Pension is a rather humble name for what is an excellent venue. Obviously new, and finished to a very high standard we were delighted by pretty much every aspect of our night here. The rooms are very comfortable and spacious. The beds are excellent, the bathrooms large enough with everything one might need. Attention to detail, immaculately clean, well styled with a sleek modern look and high quality fittings and furnishings. In the morning breakfast is a selecton of meats, cheese, pastries, bread, yoghurt, cereals, juice, coffees, jams and spreads and eggs cooked to order if you wish. Again, the breakfast components are of a high quality and very enjoyable. ||Whilst we were only stopping overnight I noted that outside were a tennis court, basketball hoop, trampoline, several terraces, and probably very much more that we haven't viewed.||The biggest plus for this establishment is Patrik himself. He is justifiably proud of his accommodation and a perfectionist (we watched him setting up the breakfast tables and positioning cutlery with an eye for detail!). He carried two very heavy bags up the stairs for us on check in, a total of at least 55kilos, I was worried he'd drop on the spot! Nothing is too much trouble. He goes out of his way to ensure your every need is catered for. Patrik is fluent in many languages and takes time out to treat each and every guest with charm and respect. Well done Patrik, you...

We found this place by chance after all campsites along the coast were full and stayed for two nights with our car+roof tent. We couldn't have been more lucky! The place lacks a pool/river/lake to swim, but it is lovely and quiet and has clean and new facilities. Best of all, Patrik and his family are incredibly friendly and helpful and made our stay there a precious memory. They gave us directions to walk to a lake nearby, picked us up as they hike turned out to be too long and hot on the way back, and helped us to find an authentic Slovenian restaurant with great food. We definitely recommend this place for people looking for something different than the mass tourism...

We had an excellent stay! The owner is extremely nice and friendly, has a smile on his face all the time. Place is beautiful, spacious. Room was very clean and nice. Lots to do around (hiking, fishing, museums,...) the Inn. Also the Inn has sport park (outdoor and indoor) for tennis, has trampoline and a bar where you can get a drink or two. Wi fi is present and connection very good. Had breakfast and it was good. Lots of fresh options. Also, a big plus, has two EV chargers. I strongly recommend...
