We spent two nights in the hotel as a family of four (and a dog). Due to some not too flattering reviews concerning the location (and driving to the hotel), food and staff, I was a bit apprehensive prior to our arrival, but there was absolutely nothing to worry about because the hotel and the service were amazing. Location - the hotel is wonderfully situated among the trees at the top of the mountain. The view is gorgeous, the nature is beautiful. We decided to drive to the hotel (instead of using the cable car) and it turned out to be less of a problem than we thought - yes, the road is narrow and there are a lot of bends, but it is paved and well maintained throughout. Our suggestion, instead of typing the hotel address into the GPS, is to drive to the restaurant Vid and then follow the road on the right which leads you to the hotel without any problems. Food - we had buffet breakfast and dinner at the hotel, both were more than satisfactory. There are plenty of savoury and sweet options for breakfast (eggs in different ways, sausages, cold cuts, cereals, sweet and savoury spreads, fruit, juices and quite tasty coffee) and for dinner, two types of soup, meat, vegetables, cold cuts, desserts and fruit. The food is tasty and seasoned well. Rooms - our room was spacious, clean and comfortable, with a large bathroom and a balcony. It met all of our needs. We could have used a mini fridge, although, since this is a ski resort, we understand why there wasn't one. Staff - everyone was kind and very helpful. Yes, at times it seemed as if the hotel was a bit understaffed (especially during dinner), but we didn't perceive it as a big issue and didn't have to wait longer than a few minutes for them to collect plates and bring us drinks. Overall, we loved our stay in hotel Montis. It is a lovely hotel with a nice, relaxing atmosphere, surrounded with gorgeous nature and views to kill for. We definitely think it has great value for money and would stay there again (hopefully,...
Read moreThis is something I have never experienced. Due to highway closure near Ljubljana we have arrived pretty late. Receptionist was kind enough to welcome us at the time of arrival. Well it didn't go as planned. Road to hotel for which we were given instructions was closed due to floods and no other road leads there. Instead of advising guests not to go there they hide this information and then we have found out. Searching through Google maps is worthless because the roads aren't recognizable and the route is switched while driving causing us to cover over 50 kilometers in the pitch black, curvy narrow roads and end up nowhere. Then back to the main road and all over again for more than 2 hours. Asking the receptionist for help he was giving me hints on how to find road calling through my cellphone which cost me a fortune. My wife was having a breakdown when trying different route for the 5th time and ending on a dead end dirtroad. Calling again for help and asking if someone can get us and lead us to hotel was futile but the guy has managed to lead us when we have found the hotel sign. Finally we get there, by the way there's no parking, and then after a 4and a half hours in tge car we leave tge car on the dirt road we used for probably 800m and go 300m by foot through dirt and mud to reach hotel. Never again. Hotel looks good only on photos. Dated but clean. It doesn't give you any satisfaction whatsoever to even bother to come. My hands still shake how pissed I was. I wanted to surprise my wife with some great memories and well spent weekend but I sure havesurprised her... Don't even bother. Find...
Read moreWhere to start. They were very understaffed, rooms were not very clean but were decent enough, with most commodities. They advertised multiple commodities that were not there: electric kettle, fan, slippers, drying rack for clothing, sofa bed or toiletries( in theory removed now from booking.com). Service was very friendly, but highly inefficient in the restaurant: tables not cleaned even when you sit down, food was cold, you pay 42 € for 2 people per night for dinner, but it was honestly horrible quality and no variety whatsoever.
In the end we left after the first night, staff was very understanding and tried to offer help but was not an option anymore to stay. They did offer us a refund for the remaining nights, which we did appreciate. Location is amazing and the walks and views from there are really nice.
Overall we had a bad experience, but we believe its due to summer being low season for them so not caring to pay enough staff to offer a better experience...
