Hoteli Winkler gostinstvo in turizem, Lokve d.o.o. — Hotel in Nova Gorica

First surprise: coming from Ljublijana by car and using Google Maps as guide, we got on probably the most meandering, steep and narrow road I had ever been. At least, it had asphalt on it! As I had soon found out, all the alternatives (roads 607, 608 and 609) have variable areas of non-asphalt STEEP and MEANDERING portions. I cannot think a reason for which not the hotel site, nor the previous reviewers do not mention that! We intended to use this hotel as a base for exploring the area of western Slovakia and that meant to go on those roads twice a day. The hotel itself is OK, 1990 stile, no fridge in the room, no air conditioning, no kettle, no daily change of towels, no garbage removal and no WiFi in the room (WiFi advertised as "in common spaces" means that). Very kind lady owner, had accommodated gladly our dinner preferences. Good food at dinner and breakfast. Bottom line: if you are a Romanian in route to France or Spain, looking for one night pit-stop, the difficulty of getting to the hotel should make you look for something else. The same if you intend to use it as a base for exploring Western Slovenia and nearby Italy area: distances on a map are different when you get on the field! We were late arriving, but the hotel kept the restaurant open for us, which was so welcome after a long journey. Room was spotless and comfortable; we slept well until the bell of the local church rang 256 times at 07:00 (This happens daily, also at 19:50, so no need for an alarm clock!)||Meals were very good, both breakfast and evening, and the hotel was very accomodating when we needed to eat outside normal service times. Per chi ama la pace, la serenità ei paesaggi naturali incontaminati allora questo è il posto giusto! Abito a Gorizia e soprattutto in queste giornate super afose è un sollievo poter recarsi nel giro di 30 min in questa bella località montana, dove la temperatura si abbassa almeno di 10 gradi. Il luogo è incantevole, prati con mucche e cavalli, sentieri dove passeggiare in tranquillità, un mini golf per far divertire i più piccoli, grandi alberi all'ombra dei quali ci si può sdraiare per fare un riposino! Io che non amo la confusione, mi rilasso molto immersa negli unici suoni dei grilli e del vento che accarezza le foglie ... E se poi si vuole assaporare qualche buon cibo l'hotel Winkler non ti lascia certo deluso! Ho provato più pietanze: tra i primi sono ottimi gli gnocchi di ortiche e le tagliatelle ai funghi mentre tra i secondi ci si può sbizzarrire tra lubjanska (carne impanata ripiena di prosciutto e formaggio) dei gustosi spiedini , un ottimo roest beef alle erbe o fettine di carne con le prugne!!!!!!! Se di questi tempi è impegnativo concedersi un vero e proprio pranzo, un consiglio (io lo faccio spesso!!!!) è di recarsi in questo luogo per godere degli ottimi dolci: qui si trovano le migliori palacinke ( omelette ripiene di vari gusti) alla cioccolata , alla marmellata o alle noci (d'estate più rare, ma se le trovate provatele!!!! sono fantastiche), anche gli strudel non scherzano però: alla ricotta e alle pesche e prugne sono la fine del mondo!!!!!!
