GOSTILNA PROSNIK, MARIJA JERIČ, s.p. — Hotel in Ormož

There are basically 4 restaurants in Ormozh. They all have good food, but this one has the best food and huge portions. Often times I'll order something new and be impressed with the presentation, size, and taste of the dish. Everything is the best except the pizza, which is usually mediocre.

Expect typical Slavic service. The waitresses aren't always pleasant or professional and if someone made them have a bad day you're going to get a splash of attitude too. They often get your order wrong and if it's busy, good luck getting the right dish or getting them to come back to your table after you've ordered!

But it's worth it...

Gostilna Prosnik was a welcome oasis on my 3 month motorcycle tour of Europe. I arrived in Ormoz, Slovenia late one November 2013 night. The restaurant was closed and the employees were going home. At the last moment, one employee opened up the hotel for me and gave me a room. The accommodations were pleasant, clean and inexpensive. Went there for sunday lunch. The place gets crowded, reservation is recommended. The food was great, exceptionally large portions. The large dining room on right side from the entrance is better, because the smaller room on the left can get loud. Knowing the local dialect may save you some time while ordering.
