Stayed here for 3 nights in June 2024 and was a mixed experience, generally good. Splurged for one of the 2-bedroom suites (the Kostanj I believe), which was clean but the jacuzzi did not work. It is a great setup for families overall, with a soccer field, play structure, 2 trampolines, and the animals milling around. My kids loved the baby goats and the ponies and donkeys. We had dinner at the hotel our first night, the food was tasty and well presented and a reasonable price. The breakfast was tasty with lots of local yogurt and cheese and meats. Our suite faced the woods and the highway, so there was a significant amount of road noise during the day but very little at night. They have some type of construction project going on toward the back of the property as well so there was some construction noise after about 8am. As with most places in Slovenia, a fan would go a long way.
The hotel staff were effective and to the point. But overall they weren't very helpful and I found the experience here confusing. Maybe because it is a family running it and living there. For example, their site advertises horseback rides, so I emailed ahead twice about horseback rides and the 2nd time they said "here, contact this person." Okay, but there are literally horseback riding lessons going on in the paddock on the premises. The fact you can buy their jerky / meats or local wines through them at the counter wasn't obvious. The fact there's no laundry on site wasn't obvious - I was directed to consider a laundromat in Postojna. There's not really anything "ekoturizem"-y about the place other than literally they have a horse paddock and some animals around. I also found it confusing that there is a giant game room in the newer suites building that they don't tell you about, they don't really use their giant beautiful dining hall with the view of a green meadow (and also the highway but overall it's pretty), and apparently there's some indoor...
Read moreWe were on a hiking trip in Slovenia, and the tour operators booked this place. We were just here for one night, and did not take advantage of everything that was on offer. It appeared that this place is set up for kids, with lots of play things around, it is close to woods, and I believe it is also a working farm...so for a family with kids staying for a week there is probably lots to do.||For us, tired hikers, all we were interested in was a beer, a shower, a nice dinner and a good sleep. We got them all. The rooms were not fancy, but perfectly nice, the beer was cold, the dinner was quite good, breakfast was good, and we had a packed lunch to take with us the next day as we started our hike...and one of the owners drove us 1.5 kilometers to the start of our hike so we could miss 1.5 kilometers of trudging along a paved road.||This is a family owned Tourist farm, and I gather that their business has been hit hard by Covid, so the family is doing everything without any help, and doing a good job of it. Everyone was very pleasant and helpful.||One downside, mentioned in several reviews, is that the farm is located only a few hundred yards from a major highway. Our rooms did not face the highway, so we weren't troubled by traffic noise, but I can see how that could...
Read moreMy family of 5 had two rooms at this bed-and-breakfast for 2 nights during a recent vacation. We used this as a base to visit the Lipizzaner Stud Farm, and also the nearby Postojna Cave.
We loved the facilities! Everything was sparking clean and of high quality. Good water pressure. Also good, drinkable water. There is a trampoline, a soccer field, and a boule court and balls. It was great to be able to relax and be outside!
The included breakfasts were excellent. There was a large buffet (breads, meats, cheeses, yogurt, cereal, pastries, etc.) and also eggs made to order. We ate dinner there one night, which I would highly recommend. Tasty, high quality food, and also some unusual choices for the adventurous eater (e.g., donkey filet!). As the only vegetarian in our group, I enjoyed the chickpea croquettes. We also LOVED the home-made slivovitz (after-dinner liqueur), and were only sad we couldn't buy a bottle to take with us.
While the farm is close to the highway, we didn't have any trouble with traffic noise. My only regret is that the siblings running the place were so busy, we didn't have time much time to chat with them. We highly recommend...
