We were on a cycling tour and stayed at Pira Hotel for 2 nights to explore Postojna Caves, Rakov Skocjan National Park and Predjama castle. Skocjan Caves is only 20km away too and we visited that the day before. It’s interesting to see that Skocjan Caves and Postojna Caves are ranked #4 and #6 in the world’s best caves and indeed they are amazing and should not be missed so a 2 or more night stay makes sense.||As we were cycling, Pira Hotel arranged for our bags to be picked up from Hotel Malovec in Divaca and also transferred to Ljubljana on our departure date which was very helpful. ||The hotel has approximately 6 rooms in newly built designer accommodation. The rooms are very nice and spacious. They appear to be working on the gardens with some landscaping being undertaken. Currently there is no interesting view from the rooms so maybe they will improve this.||As we were on bicycles we checked if their restaurant was open on both nights of our stay and fortunately it was so we dined with them twice. The food was very good (see photos) and they also made a very nice “Pira Negroni”. The dining area is in a large beautifully architected glass and metal conservatory type area which adds to the experience.||The accommodation appears to be family run with very friendly staff. They are in the process of learning all of the tricks of the trade. As a suggestion, we would recommend that they put a couple of cookies in each room daily and a proper coffee machine with pods rather than a sachet of instant coffee mix given the price point. It’s also worth asking the child not to run through the restaurant area at dinner. On the first day there was no croissants or fresh cake for breakfast but this was rectified on day two. Maybe some small bircher muesli could also be good.||All in all, we really enjoyed our stay at Pira Hotel and would highly...
Read moreOur stay at the Pira Hotel was nothing short of perfect – it truly exceeded all expectations. The property itself is exceptionally beautiful and modern, yet warm and welcoming at the same time. The owner is wonderfully friendly and made us feel at home from the very first moment.
The atmosphere was calm and peaceful, allowing us to fully relax. Our apartment had a lovely big balcony with a swing that our kids absolutely adored. We were also impressed by the thoughtful details, such as the possibility to charge our electric car.
Breakfast was a highlight: everything was fresh and delicious, and I had the best cappuccino I’ve tasted in all of Slovenia. To my delight, I was even offered one to take away. The only regret we have is not finding the time to try out the sauna – but that gives us one more reason to come back.
Another true gem is the outstanding restaurant right next door, which is an absolute must-visit.
This place is a real hidden treasure – peaceful, stylish, and full of heart. We can’t...
Read moreWe had a great time at the Pira Hotel. The hotel has just been renovated. The restaurant is beautifully designed, yet still feels warm and cosy. There are EV charging stations available in the outdoor car parks.
The spacious rooms have their own small outdoor area. The beds were very comfortable and the place was spotlessly clean. We enjoyed a good meal at the hotel in the evening. The food is expensive but really tasty, and there are vegetarian options. There is also a large selection of regional wines.
The staff were very friendly and courteous. We stopped at the hotel on our way from the Postojna Caves to Isola on the coast. There isn't much else to do in the area. But it's perfect for a hideaway.
We would love to come back...
