"Hey, can I show you some mountains?" - I was standing near the playground at Camping Menina when someone approached me. "Who is this guy and why does he want to show me mountains?" I thought, but hey, I was on holiday, so why not. He took me to a map and explained all the mountains in the area, places to go and things to see. You could tell he loved his country and his region and wanted me to explore all the beautiful places. It took me a while to realize that this was the owner of Camping Menina, Jure. We drove to his first recommendation, Mala Planina, such a beautiful area. On the way, Jure's wife Katja rang and asked if we wanted to do a wine tasting tonight. We'd had a wonderful day of walking, drinking, good food and a campfire. And the next few days were just as wonderful. It's such a relaxing place, beautiful nature, quiet, with the possibility to do lots of activities like climbing or rafting, but the best are the owners and the team. I learned that Jure & Katja have owned Camping Menina for 24 years and I'm sure they have had some tough years with Corona and the flood, but Jure was so passionate, a real inspiration. We have visited many places and many claim that you "come as strangers, leave as friends", but it's very rare that this is true. Here we felt that way. I'm not sure how he does it, it's not a small place and there was still a lot of work to be done after the flood, but Jure made us feel special with little visits, a farewell drink and always being open to any questions my children or my wife and I might have. A real inspiration. Thank you Jure and team for a wonderful time! We will...
Read moreWe have come there with a group of friends, five families, for an active break. It’s a traditional thing we do once a year. This time, we have chosen Menina campsite, based on excellent reviews. The thing I am always afraid of with going somewhere with brilliant reviews is whether they will remain brilliant also after the visit. The expectations are usually set up too high… however: with Menina campsite it was just opposite. We couldn’t believe it is possible: though it was really busy, we did not have a feeling that it was overcrowded. The service is great, the set of activities is amazing. The setting is beautiful, staff is really nice, you have a feeling that they really care for each and every client. It is perfect for families and also Green key grabbed my attention: sustainability can really be seen on every step. Clean toilets, they separate waste… We are totally in love with the campsite and will definitely come back. Congratulations to the team that takes care of it. I’m proud that this kind of service can be found in Slovenia. A true 5* experience in...
Read moreI must say that this camp is off the charts "Amazing". Their offer extends so far beyond just camping facilities. Besides offering classic camping they offer fully furnished cabines and there is a hostel. The camp site is located in a really guiet location away from a main road so there is no worry of traffic for little children. Speaking of children. Once there I do not see a way of getting them to leave. The camp has it's own zip line, adrenalin park, they offer water sports on a near by river, there is a small lake within the camp that offers swimming and water sports, you can rent all kinds of equipment and some is even available for free as the staff organizes an event for each day. There is a restaurant that stays open guite late, a little snack bar with icecream, crepes and some other thing. The staff is kind and helpful. It is truly an amazing place. Highly...
