Hotel Casino Paquito — Hotel in Renče-Vogrsko

We had a quick stop at Hotel Paquito and it was the perfect getaway for a couple of nights. Calm and peaceful, just what we needed after days of long driving. Probably one of the best value hotels in the areas.||The check-in was quick and easy. The staff was super friendly and helpful and even waited for us to arrive a little bit after the reception closing time. The property also has a self check-in option if you inform them in advance. They also helped us with the planning of our sightseeing and recommended some wonderful restaurants. We tried Noe restaurant which is just 500m away from the hotel itself and it was amazing. ||The location is great, right next to the main road with a big parking. It is around 5min away from the Slovenian-Italian border and real close to the highway exit. Perfect location form where we could explore more of the country. We were with a car but there is also a bus stop and train station right across the street. ||The rooms were big and clean. The bathroom was basic with a shower and a sink but it was more than enough for our needs. The beds were big and comfortable. It is obvious that the rooms were refreshed recently. We were also surprised by the amenities we got at this price point. Stuff like flatscreen TV, Free unlimited Wi-fi, daily fresh towels and room cleaning, lounge area with tables, fridge and microwave are not common when paying so little.||There is no catered breakfast but there is an automatic service machine where you can get a fresh coffee, snacks and drinks for just a couple of euros. There is also a bakery and a grocery 50m away where we fuelled up in the morning. ||All in all we could not ask for more. We checked-out after a few days wanting to stay longer. Next...

The room and general interior appears somewhat dated. We had various stains on the walls and the paint or furnishing flaking off. There were exactly two coat hangers and no other amenities to speak off. The bathroom was small and the shower curtain hardly did it's job, same as the slow draining shower sink. Breakfast is very basic. Staff was very nice overall and given how low the price for the accommodation is, even for Slovenian standards, one can't really complain about all of the above. On the other hand, I would probably prefer to pay 10 Euros more next time, to have a slightly higher standard. The restaurant has many Italian customers and most of the food was good. Fish dishes seem to be particularly popular, however my mushrooms and queen scallops tasted burned. I gave this place this grade mostly thanks to the very friendly receptionist, the large parking area, and the fact that the bed sheets were clean. The stay had several downsides. The cleaning was poor, and we had to use our own disinfectant to properly clean the toilet and bathtub. When we arrived, we had to start by killing mosquitoes and many bugs in the room. The shower was broken, and the part where the water comes out was glued together with scotch tape. The door did not stay closed unless it was locked with a key, and the window did not close hermetically. The smell in the room was very unpleasant, and overall the hotel had a bad odor, similar to a bar.
