We chose Gjerkeš to discover its wines and enjoy a stay in nature. It was a fantastic experience immersed in amazing wines, nature, comfort and human connection from our hosts. The wine tasting takes you to little trips with each wine, discovering new combinations in nose and mouth. Tasting was done in the open air overlooking the forest and vineyards, with delicious cheese, which made it an unforgettable experience. The rooms have been open to the public since September 2023. They combine a modern style, high quality and silence. They have very comfortable beds, aircon, shutters and mosquito net, reading lights, small desk and open functional closet. Beautiful and practical toilet. There is a very nice common living room with a fridge with wine and local beers, a quite nice library with wine literature and a balcony overlooking the forest. Wine, trekking and bike brochures are also available. Breakfast was amazing with local products, including cold cuts, cheese, vegetables, fruit in a beautiful room with direct view to the garden, forest and vineyards. Leon and Helena are incredible hosts, they make you feel at their home, in a peaceful and energizing way. I really appreciate the possibility of having interesting conversations with them. We found the location perfect for us, wine, nature and trekking lovers, to discover the Pomurska Slovenian area, and the neighbouring Austria and Hungarian regions. The service itself is impeccable, very lovely staff, the place is wonderful. The atmosphere was nice. Their own wine was mediocre, but mostly i was disappointed by the food. It was well presented and was trying to be inovative while also using mostly typical products from this region. I appreciate that a lot. The taste was somehow ok, but just somehow ok should not be enough for a place like this and in no means was worth the price. You can not set a high price untill you do not deliver a really exquisite results/taste. For example: sauces were too watery and did not complement food entirely. Cold starter was few slices of cucumbers on top of eachother (i know it was suppose to be more, but it was not). The eggplant in warm starter was not well done and the taste of the creamy tomato sauce was bad, i ate it just because it was very tiny. Main course was a slice of pumpkin, on top were lentils, plain, a bit sweet in watery sauce - and that for a main course. I do have to say the walnut on top was extraordinary and this is the way you should go. Hopefully owners take my comment as a challenge to improve. And adapt the prices until you do, be honest...

Our visit to the Gjerkeš Estate was an absolute pleasure for both of us. The whole family – and their amazing staff – did everything they could to make us feel comfortable and welcome, and they happily fulfilled our every wish.

We have to give a big shout-out to the fantastic food – creative, delicious dishes that are a real treat for any foodie. And of course, their top-quality wines made everything even better.

The rooms are super comfy, spotlessly clean, and nicely modern. The area around the estate is perfect for exploring, whether you’re into hiking or biking. All in all, Gjerkeš is the perfect place to relax and escape the chaos of everyday life.
