Gostisce Golob — Hotel in Slovenska Bistrica

You really want to stay somewhere else.||The physical building here is decent, but apart from the friendly cat there is little nice to say about this hotel.||This was pretty much a disaster from seconds after our arrival. We had reservations for separate rooms through a group tour that they completely messed up. They took groups of strangers and combined everyone into rooms of upwards of four beds. Several of our group had to cab it to another hotel 4km away to get reasonable accommodations. The person at the front desk was defensive, evasive, and kept repeating the same mantra whenever asked a question.||After a lot of seemingly endless attempts at the front desk, I was finally able to get a single room, which was less than 2m wide and about 4 m long. It was OK. My room was generally clean, I think, but others in our party reported mold, unclean cups, and similar issues. The small towels in the bathroom had the feeling of 60 grit sandpaper.||They don’t start serving breakfast until 8 a.m. and it was obvious that little setup was done before then. The “hot water” for tea was dirty (really!) and only tepid. The coffee was similarly tepid and was almost certainly reheated from the day before. The breakfast itself was “meh.”||They did have a nice cat in the reception area. I like cats. The cat kicked this up from a “1” to a “2” for me, but it’s hard to think of any other reason you might stay here.||This could be a nice place with the appropriate attention to what they have promised and basic hospitality, but as of our visit that is not true. Das Hotel mit Restaurant hatten wir für die Rückreise von der Adria / NP Plitvitzer Seen als idealen Platz für eine notwendige Zwischenübernachtung ausgesucht.||Etwas südlich von Maribor ( A1 / Ausfahrt Fram ) ist es gut erreichbar, liegt aber an der||( ehemaligen ) Hauptstraße nach Ljubljana, was bedeutete, daß doch etwas Verkehr herrschte.||Der Eigentümer beruhigte uns damit, daß Nachts kaum Verkehr wäre, was sich auch bewahrheitete !||Obgleich das Restaurant wegen des Saisonendes und Umbauten geschlossen war,||wurde uns individuell ein sehr schmackhaftes Abendessen serviert. Dazu kam, daß||wir wegen eines Mißgeschicks am PKW das Haus auch nicht hätten verlassen können.||||Das Restaurant mit großem Saal machte einen sehr guten Eindruck, wie auch das ganze Haus. Alles war sehr sauber, das Zimmer zweckmäßig gut ausgestattet, das Bad||ebenfalls und alles funktionierte bestens. Der Balkon war recht offen , aber bot in dem ansonsten Nichtraucherhotel eine erlaubte Raucherinsel !||Wie schon am Vorabend wurden wir auch mit einem individuellen guten Frühstück am nächsten Morgen verwöhnt.||||Durch unser PKW- Problem war der Aufenthalt leider etwas getrübt. ||Herr Golob hat aber als ein sehr freundlicher und aufmerksamer Gastgeber ( auch dt.- sprachig ) sofort Hilfe ( es war Samstagmorgen ) organisiert und selbst alle Unterstützung gegeben, damit wir unseren Heimweg nach Deutschland ohne Befürchtungen...

It is family run bussiness. Simple, but clean room with very clean bathroom. Basic breakfast, but what was suprising for me - even with vegan option (tofu). They don't speak English, but German is ok. Close to Maribor so I can recommend it for a night during long journey. Unfortunatelly they don't provide tea and...
