Guesthouse Beno — Hotel in Starše

This hotel is family owned and run and this is exactly how they make you feel when you are there - like family.We stayed at the Guesthous Beno while visiting relatives in the Maribor area. The other benefit was the reception for the wedding we were attending was being held in their ballroom. What a great place! The Beno is an easy drive to Maribor's city centre or other attractions in the area. The room we had was huge. We could have easily fit four. The decor was simple modern European and had everything you would need. The bathroom which was spotless had a separate shower (no tub) that had plenty of pressure and a seemingly endless supply or hot water. We had an air conditioning unit that worked well. The beds were comfortable enough with extra pillows and blankets. The included breakfast was typical continental with meats, cheeses, cereal, yogurt etc - all very fresh and tasty. If you wanted they would cook you an omelette or eggs etc. - no extra charge. For a snack during the day you can walk across the street to the ice cream vendor who sold huge cones for 1 euro. Lunch and Dinner meals at the Beno were pizza and the like but the kitchen at the Beno can cook because the food at the wedding reception was excellent and represented the best of Slovenia. I don't know why but we do most of our family wakes here. And it's become a kind of tradition. I've grown to like this place, as it's big enough for plenty of people so you can have parties, wakes or any other thing that requires a lot of people. The staff is nice and takes care of everything and if you need a room to stay they have those to, and from what I hear they are quite nice. The prices are not bad at all and if you're alone or with a small group of friends that's also good. You have a large menu and you even have lunches and dinners and they're all quite good. The vine selection is also not bad since Slovenia is vine country and everyone with a meter of fertile ground has his/her own vineyard. All in all a great place...
