We were in the motorway going towards Ljubljana and we wanted to stop for the night.||We stopped in a nearby village and an owner of a pub recommended this nice Hotel.||It was not difficult to find it but we were lucky to find a vacancy and even parking on a Friday night as it is quite popular Hotel and Restaurant.||The person we first met on the Hotel was very helpful, spoke good English and gave us a nice room on the main floor.||Good bed and mattresses , we had a fantastic sleep really. All the amenities also provided in the room. Everything in the room was from wood and opening the balcony door in the morning we felt we slept in the forest, the scenery is fantastic!!!||Dinner was chef food really and very well prepared. Excellent shrimp soup and grilled squid and escallop was the main dishes , delicious.with excellent Slovenian lager. ||Complimentary breakfast was very good too, delicious omelette and all rest of course.||Room rate and Dinner Bill was also very reasonable.||We had an excellent night stay, the people who run this Hotel are very friendly and professional and what I can say is, I will definitely come back if I ever be...
Read moreWe stayed for two nights at Rakar, located on the outskirts of Trebnje. The accommodation is excellent - comfortable rooms, with shower and WC, plus a small balcony and importantly - air conditioning. The breakfast is first class, the owner is present during breakfast and is ready to organise various types of eggs along with cold meats and cheese + fruits available on the buffet. We also had dinner on one of the nights, and it was an epic meal - with a wonderful array of Slovenian specialities but served in a modern style. The wine list is something to linger over and enjoy; the fish plate (for two or four) is highly recommended. Rakar is also very convenient for a day trip to Ljubljana; we took the train from the local station (3 minutes from the hotel) which took about 1hr25 minutes to get to Ljubljana through delightful countryside, but only cost 10 euros return.||Trebnje is also a terrific place to explore the heritage and culture of Dolenjska and Bela Krajina, one of the most unspoilt parts of Slovenia. There are castles, churches, walking and cycling paths as well as a rich cuisine which mixes traditional Slovene and...

We arrived late and will welcomed by the nice glow of light and the waiter who agreed to ask the kitchen to cook us some food. When Mr Rakar looked after us the next night he made sure to keep us entertained at the same time as having some fantastic food. Make sure you try the Creme Brûlée it’s exceptional. I always sleep well at Rakar because it’s very quiet apart from the train that stops put side the window at about 5am (or at least it felt that time). The rooms are basic but comfortable and provide excellent...
