We chose this hotel after such a wonderful stay here last year. Remembering us from last year Nina and Miran greeted us on arrival with such a warm welcome. We chose a similar room to before with a mezzanine level bedroom, ground floor toilet & walk-in shower, sofa and balcony over looking the terrace and pool with far reaching views across the vineyards & mountains in the distance. The decor is beautiful all over the hotel creating a calm and relaxing atmosphere, echoed by the thoughtfulness and friendliness of the staff and owners. The breakfast was lovely with an amazing selection for everybody, and the evening meals cooking by the lovely Nina were all locally sourced, fresh, homemade and delicious. At this hotel you feel like you are one of the family with children free to explore and dogs walking around, nothing is too much trouble. Miran is very knowledgable about the country, especially the wines, giving advice on places to visit and even park. The newly built pool was fantastic, the perfect size to relax and un-wind in, complimenting the well run hotel. We had an exclusive wine experience in a neighbours vineyard, organised by Miran costing 32 Euro's each consisting of dinner and tasting all of the wines produced there, would definitely recommend (Take your Mosquito spray). We can't thank Nina & Miran enough for making our stay so memorable, we will certainly be coming back and...
Read moreOVERRATED and OVERPRICED: The „BIOHOTEL StDaniel“ is rather a „Bed and Breakfast“ than a „Hotel“, although the prices are very high. A double room including breakfast costs 220,- Euros per night. For this premium price guests get poor quality and poor service by the owner (Nina) and the staff (Kaja). Beds and pillows are very uncomfortable. The bathroom is below youth hostel quality. The breakfast is middle-class standard, while an espresso, cappuccino or latte macchiato costs extra. Guests also have to pay extra for eggs and other things. Extra payments seem to be a kind of strategy of the owners, who point out in a meticulous „police-like-document“ in the rooms that „If you do X you have to pay 100 Euros, and if you do Y you have to pay 300 Euros, etc.“ In short: Slovenia is a great tourist destination and the Karst region is wonderful for hiking, cycling or relaxing. However this location is neither great nor wonderful. There are multiple better options around Stanjel. At StDaniel guests do not get value for money, but an overrated and overpriced accommodation with below average quality...
Read moreGreat location and friendly staff. Its interesting how the decoration is set up it gives you a special feeling. We had one of the bigger rooms. But the bed was uncomfortable, the bathroom was stupid, to small, annoying shower head (for saving water) and the layout of the rooms is that you have to turn to one side to sit on the toilet. I am tall. The lighting in the room was really bad. The breakfast was ok for that price BUT MY GIRLFRIEND ASKED FOR SOME SUNNY SIDE UP EGGS and the lady in charge wanted to CHARGE THEM EXTRA. And then said some weird comment and didnt charge them. I dont care about the extra cost. I mean its their hotel and they should decide how they want to run it. But for such a small hotel it should not be a question if they gonna do it. It should be done without a question. But ok … if 2€ more expenses are worth it to them to give the guest a negative experience then its just not a place for us. We planned to also have some dinner there but after that i didn want to. We went to different places in the region and it was...
