This hotel changed hands earlier this year and is in the process of being refurb'ed.||We only booked in for the one night and we were welcomed with the news that they had arranged for the restaurant to be opened . . just for us. Good start!||The room we were allocated (we had been upgraded) was very big, clean and light with modern curtains and bedding. Large bathroom (no bath but a good sized and powerful shower) with toiletries. Lift available.||Wifi was a bit iffy in rooms - they are trying different suppliers to rectify this problem, but connection was good elsewhere.||The meal was really good, tasty and beautifully presented and several people came into eat as well. The price was extremely reasonable too.||The staff went 'that extra mile' to make sure we were happy, telling us what to visit and supplying maps. (One young lady, when I asked if she had stamps for my postcard, offered to take it to the local post office for me the following day and refused to take money for the stamp.)||A real bonus was the local museum (opens at 8.0 am!) which was just across the courtyard. We were told that we really must visit it and that we would enjoy it. Neither of us are into museums, but we went anyway. What a gem! A real MUST. Three euros for two lovely hours...
Read moreWe booked for one night well in advance and said we would be arriving for lunch. On arrival we were met by surly staff and told in no uncertain terms we could not have lunch because they were too busy. The manageress ( I believe ) then appeared and made some arrangements for us, but the whole place was in chaos. We had no choice of lunch... it was take it or leave it. Just two of the staff showed any interest in actually giving any service. At breakfast we along with another couple got a table in a room still dishevelled from the wedding the night before and as fast as they could they removed tables and chairs from around us and it became quite clear we were a burden.||The fancy electronic cards for the doors failed to work and they were searching around to sort them out. ||The place was in chaos. To be fair to the manageress she was trying to hold it all together but failed. I saw two other people turned away from lunch whilst we were there and it was only because I became affirmative that eventually a table was laid for us. Will not be back for sure. Being kind giving...
Read moreWe decided to celebrate our anniversery at Guesthouse Bistra. We saw that the Chef is Anže Oblak and we decided to give a try. When we came we were warmly accpeted by the host. They arranged sweet table at the garden sorounded with romantic candles. Our waiter Dani took care of everything and his service was perfect. The dinner was served in 4 parts. Each part had a perfect look and tasted delicious. With every part we got a different wine and every wine was fiting every dish perfectly. Then we went to our room which was really beautiful. Had a "old school" look but very clean and nice. Bathroom was also very beautiful and clean. Next day we went to breakfast which was also on a garden outside, sun was up and it was really a good way to start the day. Food was perfect once again. We expected good stay and food, but we were suprised in POSITIVE way everything was even better than we...
