Matimba Bush Lodge — Hotel in Ba-Phalaborwa Local Municipality

As you all know I come from 5 star hotels and it’s in my blood, I strive to offer the best service and experience in everything I do. And you all know how critical I can be about cleanliness and food and service. I find myself in a little gem called Matimba Lodge. Literally 55 mins from Johannesburg via a flight to Hoedspruit and only 75km drive to connect to my destination. Having spent three nights soaking up the sun and experiencing exceptional service I would highly recommend this hide out overlooking the water with Hippos smiling at you most of the day, only 4.1 km from the Kruger National Park for one to enjoy their safari. ||Have to give a shout out to Chef Martin for delicious dinner and to Sharon for 5 star service nothing was too much trouble for her. Robby my tour guide who is walking information Burea. Showing me around Phalabowra was super interesting. ||Let me not forget to mention their amenities – proudly made in South Africa called Lemondela it’s a definite purchase for everyone available at their gift shop. I also got to have some “me time” with a spoil by Suzette – this lady has magical hands what an incredible massage open air with a breathtaking view. I would highly recommend that you try Matimbas signature dessert – Don Mimo made with Lemondela Liquor, (delicious). ||I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to Daniella the owner for her hospitality and for having me, It would not have happened without her. This place is just amazing!! It's located just about 10min. away from Kruger National Park. Daniela is a wonderful person, very welcoming, super friendly and very interesting with a lot of great ideas. The place is very spacious, there is a outdoor area where you can BBQ and a nice chill out area right at the river. The terrace has an amazing view and is perfect to enjoy the breakfast or the delicious dinner. The indoor area is very stylish too with a lot of thoughtful touches. The rooms are as amazing as the rest of the house, sparkling clean, big and super comfy beds with mosquito nets around it, spacious bathroom with amazing amenities, an indoor and even an outdoor shower which you definitely have to try!! Unfortunately I never met Alberto but I would definitely go on one of his safari tours the next time I'm visiting. All in all I can only recommend you to try this experience at Matimba Bush Lodge and make sure to stay long enough to enjoy it to the fullest!! Thanks again Daniela...

What an amazing stay! We decided to elope and was warmly welcomed and accommodated at Matimba Bish Lodge by owner Danella and staff, Sharon and Martin. We would recommend the lodge with an open heart to anyone that would like to holiday or stay for a quick break away! Our bedroom was spacious and well laid out, bathroom featured all luxury amenities. The location of the lodge is superb with a lovely view over the dam and we sighted wild- and birdlife in abundance. Our every need was attended to, with small extra detail to show that Danella and her team walk the extra mile for their guests. The chef, Martin, did not fail to surprise us with excellent culinary skills with every meal. Thank you again...
