Hippo Creek Lodge - Mabalingwe — Hotel in Bela Bela Local Municipality

We spent a glorious 6 days and nights at Hippo Creek Lodge Mabalingwe. Our hosts Phillip, Carla and there team were very attentive making our stay very enjoyable. The length of our stay gave us the opportunity to see most of what Mabalingwe has to offer, and it was certainly worthwhile. We highly recommend Hippo Creek lodge to South Africans and international guests alike. The bath with a view is very romantic. Phillip and Carla went above and beyond for all the guests including one nervous young man Grant who proposed at a site recommended by Phillip complete with champagne and a food platter. They also made a special birthday cake for one of our new friends Liezl and Craig that we met there as a surprise, We were originally looking to go to Kruger to see the big five, Mabalingwe was an affordable option and all the animals were in good condition, disease free. A big thank you to Phillip and Carla for making us feel at home. A big shout Gerry also for his service. Their knowledge of the area, flora and fauna was great....

My girlfriend and I went away for the long weekend to Hippo Creek Lodge.

The moment we arrived the hosts welcomed us and made us feel right at home. The staff in general were friendly and willing to assist with whatever we needed.

There are many activities that are available for guests at Mabalingwe. I would recommend the early morning and sunset game drives. The guides are very knowledgeable and the reserve is beautiful with lots of wildlife to see.

Breakfast, and a three course set menu dinner is included with booking and the food was amazing, with something for everyone.

It was a great getaway for both of us, we had the most relaxing time at Hippo Creek Lodge and enjoyed our stay very much.

Booking & online payment headache - it was all confirmed and paid online but on arrival they claimed neither was done. One of the rooms booked for my guests was flooding and had a bed mattress & base stored there (in the middle of the room) Blood spatter on the bathroom wall - had to take pictures to show the receptionist. The Check-in receptionist wasn't very kind nor apologetic for messing up our booking. The room had a kettle, however, no coffee or tea. Had to wait for housekeeping to quickly clean the booked rooms before settling in.
