L'ermitage Quagga Lodges Velddrift — Hotel in Bergrivier Local Municipality

My husband and I were looking for a Game reserve experience for my birthday month and found many of the other well known lodges to be quite pricey. Its by chance I came across L'Ermitage Quagga Lodge site and im so glad I did. From the booking done online to the warm welcome from hosts Johan and Linda, we enjoyed every minute of our stay. The chalet|| (we stayed in Sable #1) was modern, neat with breathtaking views of the river in the backyard. It has every convenience for a self catering stay and true to the pictures advertised. Our game drive rangers, Heinrich and Thomas, also made sure we saw as much of the game as possible. We saw quagga (obviously), a golden wildebeest, buffalo and springbok plus many bird species. An absolutely amazing place to unwind and switch off. The hosts were incredibly kind and the service was top tier. The accommodation is exceptional with quality furnishings and amenities. The WiFi was decent as well but the most amazing sounds of birds and river songs will ensure your stay here is memorable. The game drive and boat trips, arranged with reception, were both enjoyable and memorable. We saw a number of animals including the Quagga, springbok, some small duiker thing. We missed the buffalo as they rested under the shade of the bushes, but advice given was to ask for a game drive with the trailer as this is a food run which the animals know and usually come out for. From the moment you step in you are welcomed by a stunning scent, followed by the beauty of a modern, clean and well laid out chalet and then you see the breathtaking views!!

If that's not enough the hosts are super friendly, helpful and such a pleasure to chat with. We met Johan on the game drive which was extremely informative and interesting. You definitely get to see animals and you can feel the passion Johann has for these animals. He enlightened us with his experiences on the farm which taught us a lot about the animals and what happens behind the scenes.

Linda kept us updated via WhatsApp even before we arrived. She welcomed us with a smile and ensured a painless check in process.
