We've booked out the whole Dunn's Castle in January for wedding guests to stay at in December. We've visited them often to ensure everything is right (because their admin is horrific). On our arrival, some of the rooms we booked, had other guests in them, the rooms were dirty and most of the rooms had no towels or had torn bedding. We had a braai the night before the wedding and had to make use of cutlery, etc. from the Castle's kitchen. Everything was SO dirty, we had to wash it before we could use it. Then we were told that we had to wash all the dishes ourselves before we leave (by then there was no dishwashing liquid left). When we checked out, we were told that we had to pay extra because some of our guests slept in the Castle and not in the self-catering units (the same units where other guest, not part of our family, were staying even though we booked the place).
If only the owners knew how Lesley & Conrad Nel are messing up their reputation of what could be an awesome place!

Read moreI went there on a business trip. It was the worst experience ever and we travel almost every week. The rooms were old with beds that were very thin. Nests of spiders in the bathroom. Everything is old and have stains and mold on them Breakfast so terrible no option my colleague does not eat pork but the chef did not make a plan to offer something else. We got moldy bread. Eggs are just scramblied no choice. Ricoffy at breakfast. Dinner that we paid R150 for was terrible. There was nothing to drink with no sault no sause nothing. You dont have a choice you eat what is delivered. For R150 we got 2 pieces of fish soaked in garlic and a portion of chips. No salad garnish nothing. Colleague of mine tv did not work as well as his hot water tap. The room is inter connected to the next room with a door in between but you can hear everything even when someone cough. The linen are clean and staff friendly this is the...
Read moreI'm a teacher, I really don't give full marks easily... But Dunn's Castle deserves every single star I gave them! For a whole weekend we had a Policy Formulation Workshop there with 45 people from all spheres of life (teachers, non-teaching staff, SGB members as well as learner representatives), and everything was just perfectly organised. The rooms were all immaculate and comfortable, the food was absolutely to die for, and the staff were not only friendly and helpful, they went the extra mile to provide excellent service. The location of Dunn's Castle is very special with views that take your breath away. I would recommend this guest house to any and everybody - whether you just want to find a relaxing, quiet space for yourself, or for a family or group of friends to come and enjoy yourselves, or a conference or celebration. Do yourself a favour and come see for yourself - I promise you won't be...
