Pomegranate Cottage — Hotel in Bergrivier Local Municipality

Disappointed to say the least. We made a booking and arranged to pay in full on arrival. When we arrived at 2pm, book in time, no one was there to meet us. After phoning the cellphone number provided on the website and emailing and not receiving a response, the owners arrived an hour later. We then waited a further 30 minutes and still no one came to greet us. We then went over to their house and knocked on their door thrice but no one answered. Disgustingly poor service. Large newly built cottage on a citrus farm. Well equipped but not much atmosphere. Quite close to the N7; unfortunately not out of earshot. Tranquil setting next to a pond with lots of birds. Good place to chill out for a few days, but there's not much to do on the farm except swimming and paddling on the pond. Don't expect to walk anywhere from here; you'll have to drive to get into the mountains. Scenery is pretty, but considering how close to the Cederberg this is, my advice is to find somewhere more spectacular if you like the wilderness like I do. This place could really...

There are two things that made our little break perfect in the extreme summer heat...the air-conditioning and the swimming pool. One minute in the pool meant we could enjoy a drink on the stoep under the vines for 45 minutes! Sounds strange, but it was bliss. The cottage is very spacious and the view of the Zebra and Springbok in the opposite paddock was wonderful. The bedrooms were both lovely and the beds comfortable...we chose the one facing the fruit orchard, but used the shower...
