All the potential of a top rated experience but falls short due to one major issue. Watch out for this one! My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights after she liked how they place looked and was marketed and booked the stay for us. The place is wonderful to begin with, has great views and a neat cabin with great facilities. It is marketed as very exclusive, quiet and private but in reality there is a camping site about 200m up the road and the sound travels! Really well! . To begin with people can walk past and can look directly up into the cabin from the road below. This you could maybe get past, but the worst is this particular camp site does large group bookings at low prices and thus seems to attract unsavory groups of people who take over and make so much noise that it is impossible to enjoy the cabin and get any peace and quiet. It was like living just down the road of a night club. Unbearably loud, and bad... music until 2am in the morning. We could not sleep, we could not enjoy some peace and quiet. There was no headspace like they advertise, there was only headache. This cabin at the end of the day did not live up to expectations and we felt our money could be better spent somewhere else. We won't be going back unless they somehow address the noise issue of the camp down the road. Solace cabin unfortunately has a complete lack of solace.
Response: I wasn't going to bring it up but since you mentioned communication...the first night it took you about 4 hours to respond to a message, so there wasn't much hope to contact you. Also there is little to no cellphone signal so one can't really call somebody. With that being said it also should not be the responsibility of guests to ask for rules to be enforced. Also your "rules" are dictated more by the type of people you attract. I strongly doubt that this is the first issue of its kind, especially since negative comments rarely make it onto the Airbnb site, hence why I choose to use google review instead. Our honest Airbnb review was never even posted... And at the end of the day our experience was still ruined like many other people will probably also experience in future. Your campsite will always attract noisy "rule breakers" and the proximity to the cabin is just not great and you can't change that. It is therefore a roll of the dice when you book this cabin whether you will have the promised solace or not. We just won't roll this particular dice again or advise anyone else to do so. Good luck to you and your strict rules...
Read moreWe just had the most wonderful, relaxing stay at Solace Luxury Cabin. The setting is absolutely stunning – so private and surrounded by the most beautiful scenery. The hot tub was definitely a highlight, perfect for unwinding and soaking in the peace and quiet of nature. We loved how easy it was to prepare meals, thanks to the fully equipped kitchen and the gas braai. The aircon in the bedroom was definitely appreciated, and the outside shower was such a treat! There's nothing quite like showering while watching the birds flit around. We were surrounded by proteas and fynbos, with sunbirds and sugarbirds constantly visiting, and we even caught a few lizards sunbathing on the deck. Thea, the farm dog, popped by for a visit too - she's an absolute sweetheart. Overall, it was such an...
Read moreVery very small, with the interior not living up to the price tag. Shower had no door, so bathroom which is very very small ended up with water all over it. Toilet need to be flushed several times before something changes. Quality of decor and furniture old, used and in dire need of a revamp. They defnitely need to visit Kol Kol Cabins in Botrivier to see how it must be done properly. Overpriced. View is lovely though. Road to cabin not for normal sedan vehicles, make sure you take one with a slightly higher ground clearance. One last thing, maybe lit the fire before guests arrive, so they don't have to wait 4 ½ hours before hot tub is a luke warm tub? Defnitely a place more equipped for summer...
