If you want value for money and 5 star service, look no further than Langa Langa tented Safari Camp. 10 minute drive from entrance to the Kruger Gate, our stay costed just 5,900 ZAR ($320) for the 2 of us, and included dinner, bed and breakfast as well as 1x4hour Safari Game Drive into the Kruger Park with our driver "KB" who had a keen eye for spotting the wildlife and had some really interesting information on the local animals.
We were greeted on arrival with delicious welcome drinks by the bar tenders (Believe, D Man and Depo) as well as eucalyptus infused warm face towels making us feel like royalty. So don't let the price fool you this place is understated but has luxury service pouring out of the seams.
Our room was beautifully made and clean, complete with towel swans on the bed forming a heart shape with their heads. The staff helped us with our bags and showed us around our room, which had easy to use air conditioning that could cool you during the day but could go up to 30°C and was capable of keeping you warm should you need it at night.
We managed to see 4 out of the big 5 on the one game drive and even saw the elusive African painted dogs which KB secured us front row seats to watch them devour their latest prey that they had caught just moments before our arrival.
On our return from the park we were once again greeted with warm scented face towels and had enough time to prepare for dinner. We sat down around a fire and enjoyed some South African wine before the Chef came and explained what our dinner menu would be for the evening and he didn't disappoint dinner was delicious. The Icing on the cake was that whilst we were enjoying fine wine and food around the fire the housekeepers were slipping hot water bottles into our beds so that our beds were warm to get into when we came back which was a lovely touch and much appreciated.
We then watched the stars on our porch outside our tent and enjoyed the rest of our wine before getting into the luxury king sized, thinking how could all of this only have costed us just over $150 each.
The following day we had a lie in and the staff were very accommodating and made us beautiful cooked breakfast with delicious fresh black coffee even though we only came at around 10 o'clock.
Thankyou Shaun and the Team for an unforgettable stay at Langa Langa, we will be back, as will our family...
Read moreWe stayed 3 nights at the Langa Langa accommodation. The lodge taxi driver from the airport was punctual and very friendly. He already informed us about the area and showed us some animals. He also organized a game drive on the day of our arrival, which was not planned yet. The staff, in general, was amazingly attentive and motivated to fulfill all our wishes. You could see the hard work to keep the garden beautiful. The path to the lodges was always kept clean. We did not use the pool, but there are 2, which also looked very well maintained. The tents were serviced twice a day. The food was excellent. Nevertheless, nothing special like game. The organization overall was great. No delays or waiting times for pick up, dinner, breakfast, or luggage collection. The only thing I did not like and I was surprised is that there was no complimentary water. This needs to be paid extra. For the safaris itself, they have the option for a 3h safari in the morning and afternoon or an afternoon/night safari in Sabi Sands (extra payments required). All safaris were as mentioned well organized and, except one new guide who is still in training, the guides were great. They stopped at the right place to see properly and also photograph the animals or landscape. Maybe important to know is that they are mostly doing the same loops due to the 3h time limitation. There is the possibility for a full day Kruger tour if you pay extra, but you would need to plan ahead to make sure they have enough cars available. Otherwise, they were really flexible with the safari tours. Our safaris in Kruger were filled with many great animal sights. On only one drive, the lion was missing to see the big 5 in 3 hours. But of course, it all depends on luck. During the day, we saw more animals in Kruger than in Sabi Sand, but the night drive is only possible in the private reserve. Overall, I would highly recommend staying at Langa Langa instead of paying more or having not as comfortable accommodation...
Read moreWe had the most amazing start to our fortnight in and around Kruger at Langa Langa.
The magic began the moment we landed. Our transfer driver, Floyd, asked, “Straight back to camp or a game drive first?” Despite 24 hours of travel, the answer was obvious – and worth it. Within hours we had seen all the Big Five, plus more. I had been desperate to see a rhino, and Floyd took us straight to one right by the airport.
Back at camp, we were greeted with hot towels and sherry from Blessing and a warm check-in from Precious. Our tent was spotless, well-equipped, and blissfully peaceful, with a huge, comfy bed and plenty of toiletries. The grounds were immaculate, the two swimming pools sparkling, and the maintenance team clearly took great pride in their great work.
Meals were a daily highlight – imaginative evening dishes, generous breakfasts, and delicious lunches (fish and chips one day, burgers the next). I had worried about not having a menu choice, but everything was so tasty I need not have.
We had chosen Langa Langa for its guided drives before our self-drive days, and they exceeded expectations. One Kruger drive each day was included, and the team ensured vehicles were never overcrowded – even bringing in an extra guide so everyone had space. At quiet times we were lucky enough to have even had entire jeeps to ourselves. We also booked two extra evening drives in Sabi Sands with partner concession Umkumbe. These open-top, off-road drives with guide Forward and tracker Bongani were unforgettable – leopards on both nights and my favourite rhino sighting of our whole trip.
The whole team made our stay exceptional. Matt patiently answered all my pre-trip emails, Blessing was endlessly kind, and Silence’s big 5 a.m. smile (along with coffee, biscuits, and a mini local language lesson – “Five Roses tea with maleke”) all became part of the joy.
We left already planning a return. Thank you, Langa Langa – you gave us memories we will genuinely...
