Savanna Private Game Reserve is a luxurious, wildlife-rich sanctuary nestled in the western sector of South Africa’s iconic Sabi Sand Game Reserve, which in turn forms part of the Greater Kruger ecosystem. Though smaller and more exclusive than national parks, the map of Savanna tells a detailed and curated story of tailored safari experiences, world-class comfort, and intimate encounters with Africa’s Big Five. At first glance, the map of Savanna Reserve reflects its boutique nature—compact, refined, and intentionally designed to immerse visitors in nature without overwhelming them. The lodge and accommodation units are clustered in a central area, shown in harmony with the surrounding bushveld, and connected by clear, well-marked pathways. These include luxury tented suites and executive suites, each spaced for privacy and offering views of the bush or nearby waterholes. The map marks these suites individually, often labeled or color-coded, which helps guests orient themselves quickly upon arrival. Central facilities such as the main lodge, dining area, pool, bar, lounge, and curio shop are shown together on the map and lie at the heart of the reserve. The placement emphasizes ease of access and a seamless flow between game drives and relaxation. The map also features the deck overlooking a waterhole, which is a prime spot for game viewing without even leaving the lodge — often frequented by elephants, antelope, and even predators. What makes this map particularly useful is how it outlines exclusive game drive zones. Though Savanna forms part of the larger unfenced Sabi Sand reserve, its own traversing areas are delineated, showing the paths along which guests are driven during morning and evening safaris. These roads are often marked with names (e.g., Leopard Loop, Elephant Plains) and sometimes with icons indicating frequent wildlife sightings based on historical trends. This gives guests a glimpse into the diversity of habitats—woodlands, grasslands, riverine thickets—within the limited but incredibly productive footprint of the reserve. The location within the broader Sabi Sand and proximity to Kruger National Park is often indicated in an inset or overview map, helping guests understand that although Savanna is private and exclusive, it benefits from being part of one of Africa’s most celebrated wildlife regions. Animals roam freely between Kruger and Sabi Sand, which means the map shows an open ecosystem, not constrained by fences—a crucial point for conservation-minded travelers. Additional practical elements on the map include: Airstrip location (nearby, often used for charter flights from Johannesburg or other reserves). Back-of-house areas, subtly marked to respect guest seclusion. Private vehicle routes and restricted zones, helping staff maintain a balance between exclusivity and ecological responsibility. In contrast to sprawling park maps, the map of Savanna Private Game Reserve is more focused, minimalist, and refined, yet packed with essential detail. It is designed not just for orientation but to underscore the immersive, intimate, and expertly guided experience the reserve promises. In conclusion, the map of Savanna Private Game Reserve captures the elegance and exclusivity of the location while offering practical insights into how a world-class safari operation functions within a relatively small, high-impact footprint. It’s an ideal example of how thoughtful design, environmental stewardship, and guest comfort come together in a seamless African safari experience.

The trip of a lifetime!! To say that we loved our time at Savanna would be an understatement. We spent four nights here (a perfect amount, though we could have done one more), and we experienced a level of hospitality unlike anywhere else we've ever stayed. They paid attention to the little details, ie. which drinks were our favorites so that they could bring them on game drives. Dinner each night is in a surprise location, and it varied wildly from a candlelit dinner for two, to a celebratory dinner with the full camp including local performers. Our guide & tracker (Derrick & Edward) were INCREDIBLE, and we were able to see the Big 5 too many times to count. We saw leopards every day, and got so close to them that they walked right under our car! We loved that Savanna was small and intimate. We had the same guide/tracker everyday which allowed us to get to know them. We cannot imagine a more lovely place to safari. My husband and I are already planning to return with the rest of our families to share the magic with them!

Oh my goodness, what an incredible place. My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights midway through our honeymoon and were just blown away by the care and attention from all of the team, the incredible food and dinner locations and the amazing knowledge of our guide Nic and tracker Ed. We were awed on every game drive with the sheer number and variety of animals we saw, from the Wild Dogs to Leopards, Lions, Hyena’s with their 4 week old cubs coming out of their den, Elephants, Water Buffalo, Cheetahs, Hippos and Rhino’s, Zebra’s and Wildebeests - the list just goes on and on. We loved that Savanna is the perfect mix of 5 star luxury with a family touch in that you felt far more than just a guest. When we weren’t out on drives, we were taken care of so incredibly well by the lovely Maggie and Celebrate, who went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. We will absolutely be returning to Savanna again, we have gone away with so many memories and cannot wait to make new ones in the future.

Our stay at Savanna was everything we hoped it would be and more.

The property is absolutely gorgeous, with views over a watering hole that is frequently visited by elephants, warthogs, bushbuck, and other animals.

The rooms are also beautiful and spacious - the heated plunge pools are incredible, and the rooms are well-stocked with filtered water and all the drinks, snacks, coffees, and teas your heart desires. The highlight for me was the gorgeous standing bathtub, which was drawn for us every night after we returned from our evening game drive. The housekeeping staff keeps everything spotless and comes through twice a day so that you return from both of your game drives to a clean room.

We did not go to Savanna expecting the food to be anything to write home about. I could not have been more wrong. We had some of our best meals in South Africa at Savanna! Some of my favorites included ostrich kebabs, Asian-glazed salmon, and a rooibos pannacotta that I'm attempting to recreate myself tonight. Literally our only complaint about Savanna was that they were TOO generous with the food, and my husband and I frequently couldn't finish everything. We hate wasting food, but the staff was extremely accommodating and provided us with half portions on several occasions.

The two places where Savanna really shines are the staff and the game drives. I have never stayed anywhere with such impeccable service. The staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome and meet your every need, from greeting us with fresh homemade lemonade when we arrived to remembering every guest's dietary restrictions and preferences. Our server throughout our stay, Life, was so much fun and we loved chatting with him during our meals.

The game drives were a dream come true. Our guide, Jamie, and tracker, Julius, were so impressive, from their encyclopedic knowledge of all the plants and animals in the bush, to their ability to follow tracks and understand animal behavior. I swear Julius has superhuman eyesight - he was able to find a chameleon at night that several of us couldn't find for 30 seconds even with the flashlight shining on it. In our four days at Savanna, we saw the Big Five several times over (including one drive where we saw all of the Big Five in the span of a few hours), as well as giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, hippos, warthogs, jackal pups, hyenas, ostriches, a cheetah, a civet, and so much more. The viewings were incredible – we were frequently the only vehicle, and many of the animals walked right up past us. We also got to taste wild marula fruit (elephants' favorite), and Jamie showed us how to make "bush soap" with a plant that suds up when you rub it with water. We had so much fun getting to know Jamie, Julius, and the other couples on our drives during morning coffee breaks and evening sundowners in the bush.

I legitimately cried when we had to leave. It was intended to be our once-in-a-lifetime trip, but we are already talking about finding a way to come back! Thank you so much to all of the staff at Savanna for the best four days we could...

From the moment we set foot in Savanana Private Game Reserve, our honeymoon became an extraordinary adventure filled with breathtaking moments that will forever be etched in our memories. The combination of thrilling wildlife encounters, luxurious accommodations, and unparalleled service made this experience nothing short of magical.

Wildlife Extravaganza: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Our safari experience was beyond our wildest dreams. Witnessing the circle of life unfold before our eyes as lions and their adorable cubs devoured a zebra was both awe-inspiring and humbling. The heartwarming sight of lions and cubs meeting added an extra layer of enchantment to our safari. A leopard in a tree, gracefully enjoying its impala meal, showcased the untamed beauty of nature.

The diversity of wildlife amazed us at every turn, with hippos, rhinos, and giraffes becoming familiar faces during our daily explorations. Each safari drive brought a new and exciting revelation, making us feel like we were part of a real-life documentary.

Guided by the Best: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Our experience wouldn't have been as incredible without the expertise and passion of our guide, Nick, and tracker, Life. Nick's knowledge of the reserve and its inhabitants was nothing short of impressive. His ability to spot wildlife from seemingly impossible distances left us in awe. Life, with his keen tracking skills, ensured that no detail went unnoticed, turning each game drive into a thrilling adventure.

Their enthusiasm and genuine love for the wildlife made our safari not only informative but also deeply enriching. Their stories and insights into the animal kingdom added a personal touch to our experience, making us appreciate the intricacies of the ecosystem.

Romantic Oasis: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Savanana Private Game Reserve went above and beyond to make our honeymoon truly special. The lodge, nestled in the heart of nature, provided a perfect blend of luxury and intimacy. Our private dinners under the starlit sky were nothing short of enchanting, and the attention to detail made each moment unforgettable.

The romantic ambiance extended to our accommodation, featuring a plunge pool that provided a welcome respite during the warm afternoons. The highlight of our stay was the surreal experience of watching a herd of elephants pass by as we lounged by the pool—an unexpected and magical encounter that added an extra layer of romance to our already perfect honeymoon.

In conclusion, Savanana Private Game Reserve exceeded our expectations in every way. From the heart-stopping wildlife encounters to the personalized and romantic touches that made our honeymoon truly unique, we are grateful for this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
