If I should give this review a headline, it will be, The beauty of nature in all its glory. The cottages are situated in the idyllic part of the Cederberg kloof. With the lust vegetation all around, there are tons of different birds singing and humming along. Sunrise and sunset in the kloof creates picturesque views that's just breathtaking. What really makes this 2hr, 190 kilometres drive from Cape Town worthwhile, is the clear night skies allowing viewing of the milky way with the naked eye that is just spectacular. We stayed at cottage number 6 and it was beautiful. An one bedroom open plan lounge bedroom and kitchen. The King size bed was comfortable and warm. The kitchen is fully equipped of all the necessary utensils. A microwave, fridge and two plate has stove completes the appliances in the kitchen. The complementary coffee grounds with a grinder and a coffee plunger made the best coffee ever. We even brewed rooibos tea and it was all on the house. The bathroom was spacious and equipped with a shower that was really hot and fabulous. We spent most of the day on the stoep that was sun-drenched from sunrise to sunset. I even took a cat nap on the two big bean bags in the lovely afternoon sun. Why I really booked at Cederberg, is because each cottage has a private Jacuzzi. And yes it was as private and lovely as advertised. All round, this was a epic experience, with a beautiful cottage, enchanting surroundings that will leave you recharged and rejuvenated.

Beautiful setting, pitty about the cockroaches crawling in our food and on the kitchen blinds. Left a night early and ended up bringing 2 of them HOME! I have never felt my skin crawl so much in my life. It's a shame, it was my birthday weekend too. I cling wrapped my food, cleaned the counters with my own person cleaning products I brought from home not to mention the fact that their "dishwashing liquid" is diluted with water. So we ended up going into town to purchase our own. I understand we purchased the self catering chalets but for a rating on google that's 4.6.. We didn't expect to be sharing with roaches We were also expecting a quiet relaxing time but our neighbours that were close to us were obnoxiously loud and clearly didnt adhere to the "quiet rule". The site manager was lovely and she did come see us. Just wish we had a better time. (The following images are from when we were in cederkloof as well as the horrible nightmare we brought home with us after staying there.

We had such a wonderful stay at Cederkloof Botanical Retreat! Stayed in Cottage 10 which was private, peaceful, and just what we needed for a break. It’s also dog-friendly, which was a big plus for us our baby loved it (tip: pack tick & flea tablets if you’re bringing pets along). We brought our 2.5-year-old daughter, and being surrounded by nature was such a treat for her , safe, fresh air, and plenty of space to explore. The jacuzzi was perfect for us to unwind, and the braai area made evenings super relaxing. The cottage was beautiful overall comfy bed, clean bathrooms, and a well-equipped kitchen (though the pan could do with a little upgrade 😅). What really stood out was how hands-on and welcoming the owners are. A special mention to Alex, the manager on duty, who went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable. All in all, a lovely family-friendly retreat that ticked all the boxes for us. We’ll definitely be back!

I havent been on a holiday in a while. And if my experiance at cederkloof was a holiday, then yes! Im definately coming for more!

Before i say anything further, id like to say that, if you're going for a "retreat" it means you are going to a place where you are one with nature, dont expect to have pathways lit and a guide holding your hand while roaming the vacinity, or a maid tucking you in.

When u get there, there is a reception, your name is on the board and so is the unit which u will be staying at. If u cannot see this, i urge you to go see your optometrist

We had a three night stay, got there and was greeted by a lady and a gentleman. At (RECEPTION) Their response and service was impeccable, so much i thought the gentleman was going to roll out a red carpet for me.

Anyhoo, i was told freddy was the go-to guy if id needed anything. My cottage was number 5 and my jacuzzy was already being heated. I Parked, unpacked and to my surprise we had actually overpacked for this getaway, they have ticked off all the boxes already.

Look, we from the city, and if u go on a retreat, dont expect the place to be next to a shopping center, dont expect ppl to baby sit you. Just enjoy the time, we sure had a blast day in and day out, our whole stay through.

If u see a gogga or two, theres a bottle of raid at your door, if the lights go out, you blame eskom. Remember, you are far away from everything, so when the lights do go out, stand outside and look up into the midnight sky. . Do u see it? The stars are beautiful !

I would like to take this time to thank melanie and the team for their efforts in ensuring a pleasant stay. Freddy for keeping the wood topped up, and the other lady who re supllied the units for the jacuzzi. .

-And for the person who was moaning about the noise? Cederkloof is growing! Only to make it even more pleasant for people to enjoy. Every business has to grow, just like your bosses house. . Its also growing while u moaning over other peoples successions, shame on you. Lol-

Thanks guys!...

I had booked my stay with a daddy deal voucher I had purchased. When we got there, there was no direction of who to speak to and the workers there never knew either, 0 management. Instead of being put in a house for 2 people we were given a house for 4 which all sounds great but in fact left us in one of the worst houses on the property. We stayed in number 10 which had no view. The big gate that can be closed so when people walk past cannot see you and you can have privacy, was broken and never latched. We arrived a bit early but by check in time at 2am the cleaners were still in there and by 2:20 we had someone still cleaning the jacuzzi. Since we were only spending one night I thought this was badly run and took away our time of being there as we sat inside until the jacuzzi could finally be sorted. No ice was provided like said, only the previous tenants ice half empty in the freezer. It was not the cleanest and had a very odd curry smell all over the place. When I went to “reception” to speak to someone (not sure you call that a reception, just one big hall) nobody had any idea who I could speak to. They called the owner and the only suggestion was that we could leave 2 hours later the next day but there was nothing she could do. I also found out they took long to clean and overtime because the previous tenants had left at 1pm only, which was not my issue. I found the advertising and photos online only depicted the top houses which were further away, neater and had the jacuzzis like was in the photos. Our place on the other hand had no view no privacy, was smelly and had someones hair on the curtains, no big spoons to use either in the kitchen. Braai area was still sticky and not wiped down properly. All in all the house we stayed at really needed some love and the service and a management needs a good change around. Disappointing when you’ve booked a night stay away for your partners birthday and the place gives you the shivers and feeling of...

We celebrated our anniversary, staying 3 nights at cottage 2. Our booking was simple and straight forward. We met Anja at reception who informed us that our room was ready for us even though we had arrived early.

Opening up the cottage was a good surprise. The kitchen was very well equipped which even featured a small coffee bean grinder and a large stainless steel coffee plunger - The beans on offer were stale unfortunately. The large bed comprised of 2 single sleepers adjacent, was clean, comfy and of good quality linen. The gap between the beds did minimize possible cuddling and kept each partner on their divided side. The main selling point for this resort was the jacuzzi & the abundance of spring water throughout all the faucets. The jacuzzi felt private and offered good views in the day and night. The amount of electricity credits to operate the jacuzzi was also fair for our stay. We enjoyed the shorter nature walk on offer, seeing baboons and an abundance of bird life.

We did experience several issues. The bouts of electricity loss over our stay, limited the use of the main attraction - the jacuzzi and the much needed AC for the intense heat & fresh air supply at night. The resort did not have a generator and we felt as if this let down did not justify the price without the attractions. The fireplace did not vent correctly, allowing smoke to billow into the cottage which was a real let down. The cottage also required closing of all doors/windows to minimize the wild from entering. This limited fresh air which required the somewhat noisy AC to run throughout the night. Simple meshing over a few windows would really be beneficial. The bathroom was rather outdated and bathroom privacy was in the form of a sliding door which was next to the bed. Overall we enjoyed our stay in this beautiful place, felt everyone onsite was friendly but we cant say that we...
