While the place is nice, we experienced shockingly dishonest billing from BVW. I paid their deposit, but my cousin went in to settle the final bill and we only realised later that they didn't credit the deposit. When I queried and requested the deposit refund, Hannelie sneakily offered a credit for a future stay. I declined and requested my deposit refund. Hannelie then advised that the amount quoted to us had been an underquote, but that she would refund the smaller difference. This also proved to lack integrity and 5.5 weeks after the event we have still not received any part of our deposit refund. Note that nowhere in the email correspondence was any accusation of misbehaviour, damage or mess associated with our stay. This is simply a horrific example of dishonest billing when a customer is powerless to return to site to insist on fairness. I have all the email correspondence to support this review if required. Shame on you BVW. Public: Do you really want to offer such people your business?

UPDATE: after 6 weeks of emails and finally resorting to public review pressure and enlisting the help of various booking agents, BVW finally found their sense of ethics and refunded our deposit. Much...

We had a lovely stay in house 7. We intended that three of our five adult group, including four dogs, would camp next to the house. Unfortunately the weather was terribly rainy so we were all in the chalet. Quite cramped but luckily 7 has an indoor fireplace because the temperature went below zero on one night. The kitchen needs a colander and pan. The house needs many more hooks for jackets, towels and dishcloths. There are lots of great walks, the river is spectacular and has super swimming spots for summer. Entrance is over a low water bridge, by the third day the water had risen about a meter with all the rain and we were wondering how long we would have to stay, it stopped raining that same day and by the next morning the bridge was passable again. There are free range chickens that ate all our fruit and veggie leftovers but one of them was nearly caught by my dog, she almost corrupted the three farm dogs into joining her and had to stay on lead from then on. The photos of the waterfall show how much the river rose during our stay, awe inspiring, it is a short walk...

This is a very nice quiet retreat in the picturesque Biedouw valley where you could spend a few days or even a long weekend exploring the surroundings and other interesting places. Be prepared to be totally cut off from the concrete jungle and rat race we face every day - there is limited electricity supply and NO way of communicating with the "outside world". However this all makes up for a relaxing time and return to nature experience. Ablution facilities are not up to standard and more care could be taken to deep clean these after lock down. It would also be nice to have a portable braai of some sort available at the sites. The communal facilities are to far removed from the camping area and does not help to make camping with friends a wonderful experience! The hot showers rejuvenated our tired bodies and reset our biological clocks for the wonders that...

What an incredible find! Wonderful hospitality, spectacular setting, we will definitely be back. We rode in by motorbike and camped on lawns under the trees next to the small dam on the Biedouw River. We were provided with a portable braai and bought wood at the small shop. They sell ice. The ablutions were very clean and the showers were great. The shared kitchen was well equipped with kettle, stove, microwave, fridge and deep freeze. Thanks for a great weekend Hannelie, we’ll definitely be back!

Biedouw Vallei Wegbreek is truly a hidden gem. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking — peaceful mountains, endless stars at night, and that special silence you can only find deep in the Cederberg. The cottages are cozy, clean, and perfectly equipped for a relaxing stay. We loved the personal touches and the warm hospitality from the hosts. Whether you’re hiking, stargazing, or just switching off from the world, this is the kind of place that nourishes the soul. Can’t wait to come back!
