Would have been a 4-star review but for the wifi scenario in our chalet (“Willy”). The wi-fi is capped, and not a very high cap. Even worse, the reception staff either don’t know it’s capped, or they lie about it. Felt very gaslit when we reported it and were repeatedly told there is no cap despite showing them the screenshot (see first pic here). Three devices reached a cap – without streaming anything – within 36 hours of arrival. I updated a playlist on morning 2, maybe 10 songs, and suddenly I had reached cap.

Of course you don’t want to spend all your time on devices, but we were there midweek and would have had to work if there was urgent stuff – not having wifi would have been a crisis if urgent stuff had come in. So be warned, if you are planning on working (or if you need to stream anything for any reason) – insist they confirm they have resolved their capping issue at the chalet/s.

Other than that this was a delightful stay – we were there in October so not yet hot/ just cold enough to enjoy the warm and hot pool (mostly too hot during a sunny day); but the rock pools are cooler and you can adjust your private jacuzzi if you have one - manually, by adding cold water.

Staff at reception were friendly, with the confusion and bit of gaslighting around the wi-fi cap as an exception; the chalet was wonderful/ clean and mostly tip-top shape; the restaurant was as good as I remember from my previous visits (10 years ago last!).

UPDATE: Second visit in a year (June 2024, October 2023), second visit in which wifi at the chalets has been basically useless. It wasn’t working at all on day one, and both my partner and I had a bit of work to do. We used our own data, and on day two had to phone every hour to ask for an update on wifi situation bc the desk wouldn’t call us with updated no matter how many times we asked them to/ they agreed to. The next day when it was “fixed”, it was all but unusable for working - even sending photos via WhatsApp would freeze it.

In short: Don’t go expecting to be able to use wifi to work (easily).

I love hot water in cold weather, so I always try to go to one of the hot springs resorts around Cape Town for my birthday in mid-June, and this is now my favourite after The Caledon has been going downhill steadily for years. So we want to go back in June next year – just hoping they check, confirm, and fix the wifi cap...

After years of attempting to book or having to cancel a booking we managed to get to the "Famous" Citrusdal Hot Springs.

My expectations were to high I think, the 1st days weather was rainy & the campsite layout didn't impress me with a kilometer or so walk from the lowest campsite to the upper hot springs and its a uphill walk. Add to this the fact that the campsites border the main gravel road up to the reception, chalets & hot springs and things were just not ideal. I was not alone in my view and all the family members agreed there would be no need to return.

The GOOD news is that 3 days later we all agreed we would love to return given: 1] The sites all have there own character & the stream running down past them all is warm so a pleasure for kids to play in even when its cold. 2] The walk up & down from camp to amenities is good for the legs & is hardly noticed in the end 3] The hike to the top of the mountain behind the venue is beatufiul & provides stunning views and despite the initial gradient can be done in 2-3hrs. In fact I ran it the last day in under an hour so even the not so fit & younger children can enjoy it. 4] Theres ashorter easier hike aswell despite us not trying it. 5] The outside hot springs up against the mountain ravene are a real treat & became my 16 yr old daughters escape from it all. Hot water, sound of a waterfall, birds & just the bush to sooth that soul. 6] Main bath is bigger enough to handle the number of guests and the cold pool is just great to visit to cool down or sun bath on the really comfy pool loungers on a warmer day. 7] We tried the indoor jacuzzi's which many would love as they are well laid out and are cozy but personally I don't like being indoors for one, secondly the spray jet motors are noisy & after doing the outdoor baths fell like a suana enviroment - But that's just me. 7] Resturant and shop is well priced & meals tasty & well portioned. 8] Near campsite 19 there are 2 outdoor natural hot showers which my son & I thouroughly enjoyed to warm up or shower. 9] Security at the gate & enviroment felt of the safe nature.

The 3 sets ofbathrooms have all you need and nicely laid out over the campsite.

When booking I thought the cost is a tad expensive for camping but given the setting, services, amenities & activities one can enjoy on the house its actually great...

We spent a weekend at The Baths and enjoyed our stay. There are a few areas for improvement.

Our jacuzzi was dirty when we got to our unit. So before we could put it on, we needed to clean it which was very frustrating. This should be done before every guest arrives.

The games room is very underwhelming. There is just table tennis and a pool table. It could do with a bit of a revamp and a clean up.

We stayed in the Klipkers unit. When making the booking I was under the assumption that it is part of the entire resort. But when checking in the security guard directed us out of the main resort area. So in order to get to the baths and all the other amenities you need to drive into the resort. It would about a 15 to 20 minute walk to get there. This is something that should be highlighted on the website so that you are aware it is separate and not within the immediate vicinity of the pools, etc.

We stayed over the long weekend and there was a lack of staff presence. When we check it we had to just collect the keys from the security guard as the reception was closed to it being a long weekend. Upon check out the reception was open and when handing in the keys the staff were very unfriendly. They didn't even ask if we enjoyed our stay. I just handed the keys to them, they checked that I paid and said everything is in order. The entire weekend we saw no staff members/management except for the restaurant.

This was very frustrating when it came to the rock pools. There were kids who were being extremely loud and playing loud and dangerous games in the rock pools and there were no staff or security guards we could speak to or who could have sorted out the issue. Which resulted us in constantly having to tell the kids to stop throwing things from one rock pool to another. There should be staff presence to monitor things like this and the rock pools should also have warning that kids are to be accompanied by adults.

The restaurant is very average. The food is very bland and lacks flavor. Not worth the money.

The rock pools are not marked or have any sign boards. And it is not on the map resort either. There should be signage for this.

Overall we had a pleasant stay as our unit is well equipped but there is room for improvement in the...
