Le Bonheur — Hotel in Constantia

I loved staying at Le Bonheur Villa. I stayed longer than anticipated. I originally booked to stay for a few days which ended up being a two month stay. It was perfect for me travelling solo in the Winter months. The bed was most comfortable and the space was cosy. When it rained, i took the opportunity to catch up on some movies on the satellite channel offering. I love taking long walks. Le Bonheur is a stones throw from Bel Ombre Greenbelt which is a beautiful stretch of green grass and trees, ideal for leisurely walks. There are mountain biking & horse trails and it feels like you are in the countryside but with breathtaking views of the backdrop of Table Mountain and the Constantiaberg. I attached some photos to give every traveller an accurate indication of how lush and green everything is, after the much needed Winter rainfalls the Cape is known for. This brings me to the efforts that my host, Athol has worked hard at achieving a water and energy efficient eco environment to beat the challenges of water restrictions. He has solar heating as well as a borehole, but has also gone to great lengths of informing all his guests by educating them on how to best conserve water and at the same time have an enjoyable vacation. We were warmly welcomed by Athol and shown around. Lime Cottage exceeded my expectations, being even more spacious than I had expected. The quality of the fittings, equipment and furnishings is very high and in particular I liked the well-equipped kitchen. Everything was clean and new but comfortable and homely. ||||We slept well as it is very quiet and the security is excellent, something which even if it's perhaps not necessary in Constantia, is reassuring.||||Lime Cottage is within walking distance (20 minutes) of Constantia Village where there is a comprehensive range of shops, services, and restaurants. It is safe to walk during the day and probably even at night, or a 5 minute drive. There are many other restaurants in the area and it's a few minutes' drive to most of them, including Hout Bay. There are also lovely walks in the area's green belt. ||||Town and Southern Suburbs are easily accessible by good roads and a couple of scenic options.||||Athol and Tamara are discreetly around to ensure to ensure guests' well being and we wanted for nothing. ||||Le Bonheur also places importance on ecology and uses borehole water and solar electricity where possible, an example that more places should follow.||||Thank you! We stayed in Lime Cottage for a 3 week holiday in January and our expectations were exceeded the minute we arrived! Athol (the owner) is a lovely and helpful host and communicated with us at every stage. Before arriving, he clearly explained that Lime Cottage is part of Le Bonheur which is made up of 3 x private cottages and a main villa therefore the pool area would be shared by all guests staying onsite (as you would expect at a hotel). Le Bonheur is located in lovely quiet residential area of Constantia and very safe. Within a few minutes by car you can reach Constania Village (where you have all the main shops / restaurants etc) and wine farms. Lime Cottage was absolutely perfect for the 3 of us and had everything you would expect in a 5 star property. The beds are the most comfortable I've slept in and the kitchen and BBQ area was a dream to cook in. The pool is possibly the biggest asset as it's solar heated so it was like swimming in a warm clean bath every day. Athol the host, is available should you need him for any queries but he never intruded in our holiday one bit. We absolutely loved staying in Lime Cottage and hope to return in 2019!.
