We stayed at Lekoa Lodge for 3 nights in April 2019. Wow, was so surprised when we stumbled upon this beautiful oasis set amongst this farming community. It's so quaint with almost a magical feel to it with the beautiful church and conference facilities available, not to mention the indoor heated pool, jacuzzi (which was a big hit for our kids), pool table, trampoline and outdoor swimming pool. We loved the fact that our children could run free, entertain themselves in a safe outdoor environment. Was heaven to have the kids off their iPads, exploring, running around, swimming, playing pool and doing what kids should be doing - having fun, all whilst the adults can sit back and enjoy the tranquil environment.
Our lodging was more than adequate for our family of 5, spacious and clean with all necessary equipment for self-catering, although there is a lovely restaurant there for the days/nights you don't want to cook. We were extremely comfortable in our chalet and would certainly come back and stay again.
The owner, Steve Gravenor and his team couldn't have been more accommodating to us. He even gave us a personal guided tour of the area and farms, educating us on the local history and farming community's activities.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this lodge. Personally, I think it's fabulous for a little romantic quiet getaway or even for a large group of people/families to go to for a safe, relaxing, enjoyable, comfortable retreat. I think it's also suited to corporate groups or cycling/ running groups looking for something different. I would also strongly recommend it as a wedding venue or even for a big birthday bash - 30th, 40th or 50th etc. They have all the facilities necessary to cater for all this. Their conference room/hall is large with stunning fairy lights which sets the ambience for a beautiful event.
It's certainly worth travelling to - it's a hidden jewel :) We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and look forward to visiting...
Read moreThe place / lodge is a beautiful place to spend with the family , ladies who kept our rooms clean thank you for your friendly service. However after the treatment we received from the lodge manager , I think her name is Lorna Barnad was terrible , it overcame anything good about the lodge . We got there on the 31 Dec 2016 , as we started playing our music she quickly came running and request that we keep it low and we did, respecting her wishes, keep in mind it was New Year's Eve everyone was in a happy mood. In the afternoon there was a party going on in the hall right next to our room and they played music till early hours of New Year's day (01 Jan 2017 ) , it was so loud we had to use ear plugs to help us sleep. So as bitter as we were the following morning we decided to play music and guess who came running and actually this time she instructed that we switch off the radio , we refused and explained to her that her behavior is not fair as she allowed people to play music in the hall next to our room the whole night . Her response to this was " YESTERDAY WAS PARTY TIME BUT NOT TODAY , IF YOU NOT GONNA SWITCH IT OFF I WILL SWITCH IT OFF MYSELF " . Nobody informed us about the party or excuse the loud music ...and she took the direction to my car to go switch the radio off, I then stood up and said " you are getting me pissed and you gonna see another side of me " and she stopped . We actually requested that she gives us a full refund and we will gladly depart the lodge , she didn't . Lorna I think your behavior , your treatment is purely based on people's color of their skin, I hope the owner actually review this with open mind. Zama Magwaza ...
Read moreSet a few kilometers from Villiers, the Lodge offers an ideal weekend breakaway from city life. On a less condensed scale, the lush green grass, misty mornings, and rolling hills provide a ambiance similar to Dullstroom.
The chalets are remarkably spacious, and have everything you'd expect. Living areas were exceptionally clean, the gardens neat and tidy, and the birds chirping.
They have an indoor heated pool in the bar / restaurant area with a big screen TV for the sports fans.
I didn't make use of the wedding / conferencing facilities, but they are available if required.
Pathways and ramps make wheelchair access easy.
The staff were welcoming and exceptionally accommodating, in all areas. ~ Thanks Steve who went out of his way.
They offer a variety of activities, including clay pidgeon shooting and fishing.
A private runway is available by prior arrangement. The only slight drawback is the proximity in relation to the lodge, although the staff will collect you, and drive you to reception which is approximately a kilometer away. The compacted gravel runway is completely fenced, and has tie down facilities. There are no hangers for overnight stops. It's an ideal fly-in destination for breakfast or lunch. I strongly recommend that you obtain the runway information sheet before flying in, which describes the procedures.
Would I go...
