I surprised my husband with a few days' getaway to GQ and booked our stay at L'auberge Country Hideaway. We are from Cape Town, so the drive was amazing. The booking at L'auberge Country Hideaway was easy and the reception was friendly. I received a confirmation email right away; I also received a well detailed driving direction that led us right to L'auberge Country Hideaway from Cape town. ||When we arrived, we were met at the gate, and there was clear and friendly communication on the day in preparation for our arrival. Our room was clean, the entire place is breath taking, you will really love it if you are looking for some zen and want to feel like you are one with nature. We could hear all sorts of animals in the background, it just felt like a fairytale. ||The owners also helped us out with a list of the best restaurants nearby, the area felt safe, and our rooms were cleaned daily, we had complimentary coffee and snacks in the room. ||We are definitely planning to go back again end of this year and stay longer this time. If you are looking for some peace and quiet and some inspiration from nature, I think you should really give this place a try. We left feeling rejuvenated and wish we had...
Read moreThe most unfriendly and unhelpful host. Even some of my friends and family had the same experience. I slept there the night before my wedding. I arrived at 20:00, and was totally lost. It was dark and the number of my room was really small and after wandering around there in the dark for a long time I eventually found my room. I did not have cell phone signal there and my family could not get hold of me. The host refused them entry to the premises. Fortunately there were other guests who opened the gate. The photographer went to the venue before the wedding and he reported to me that the host was very unfriendly and full of nonsense. We felt so unwelcome that me and my daughter went for breakfast at another place. Me and my husband planned to sleep there after the wedding. I however refused and we slept at our own house, more friendly environment. The one star is for the...
Read moreAmazing stay! So secluded and yet it has modern comforts. It is almost like glamping! We staid in one of the smaller rooms. Tania our host was so attentive to our needs. We took some extra battery operated lights for loadshedding and some bug spray for those lovely sunset evenings outside. The room had a few great essentials like basic utensils, a lovely fan, towels, basic toiletries, coffee making facilities and a mini fridge. The outside communal kitchen has a gas stove which was perfect for loadshedding coffee time. The shower was lovely and definitely had enough light. There are little windows above the normal windows without curtains, but we wore eye masks which worked great! We will...
