The devil is in the detail and I felt that this B&B misses it. I tried to work out where and how it achieved its 5star tourism council rating, but left before I could. I stayed for two nights and was left disappointed with my room and the breakfast. ||||I will start with the room, its small, did not have a comfortable chair to sit on except for two dining room chairs. The table was to high for the chair, so it meant working at the table was uncomfortable and forced one to sit on your bed for the majority of the time. The bath/shower combo is a big NO-NO for me. No one enjoys climbing into a bath for a shower. The extractor fan in the bathroom was noisy and sounded like a plane taking off.||||The above could not even be cheered up by a good cup of coffee in your room. The coffee and creamer on offer was the cheapest coffee one can buy and I chose to avoid it. The TV in the room is old, very old (old box type) and even though the room was very small it was still hidden in the one corner. The bed was comfortable and big but all the pillows were the same hardness, which I will classify as super hard. So there was no softer option. The one bedside lamp was not working and a clock in the room stood still in time, almost like the town of Uitenhage in a way.||||The breakfast area forces you to sit around one big table, facing complete strangers first thing in the morning. The kitchen area and dining room is one big room. The fruit juice on offer was concentrate and not 100% juice. The "fresh fruit" on offer was the type you can buy in a can in the supermarket with enough syrup in it to give you a sugar rush. This was not for me and the lack of privacy and quality of food and choice was limited and disappointing to say the least. At least offer a paying customer a good quality cup of coffee and not another collection of...
Read moreMy room at Mi Casa was spacious with a four-poster king-sized bed and small alcove with a twin bed. Although the room was quite large, it lacked a comfortable place to sit. There was a bench but it lacked padding. There was a TV but the satellite wasn't working. They provided a microwave although I would have preferred an electric kettle.||||There was ample hot water. The towels and bed linens were high quality and soft.||||Breakfast was served in a lovely room and included one egg cooked to order. The buffet offered some kind of meat (one morning minced beef, and another morning sausage), canned juices, yogurt, toast, and water for...
Read moreOverall friendly, the water did not work in my room for the two days I stayed but I heard from others that the town did not have water, so not really the fault of the guest house.||||However I stayed in room 9 and the fridge was making so much noise I had to disconnect it. During my first day, when there was water, the facet knob fell off the shower. I reported it in the morning, but it fell off again in the afternoon (when there was no water)||||The WiFi was actually quite good, the bed was nice and the air conditioning was actually quite good.||||The staff seemed friendly but my stay was cut short because of water shortage...
