Premier Resort Mpongo Private Game Reserve — Hotel in Eastern Cape

My experience was rather poor as billing at the end of the stay was NOT what was quoted and new charges were given without making us aware. If there was an issue or a mistake made - it should have been brought to our attention immediately and not when we are checking out.||||As seen in other reviews, if you are looking for the big 5 you wont find them here.||There are plenty of buck and zebras and if you are lucky you may spot the elephants. Caged lions are also found near the restaurant.||||The outdoor play area and restaurant pond leave nothing to be desired for, with broken equipment and a few ducks swimming in a badly maintained pond which is overgrown with slime and dying surrounding plants.||||The other animal pens have 2 angry geese, shy rabbits and the odd emu with a scattering of peacocks.||||The rooms are clean and neat - however one of our rooms had a broken shower door and the other room had a blocked shower drain.||||Food/Beverage||-The coffee station in the living area ran out of milk by the afternoon and when we returned by 9 pm it still had not been restocked.||-The food was good however on on our 2nd night the buffet ran out of soup and dessert by 7:45 which left those arriving to dinner scrounging for what was left.||-The bar was not well-stocked as according to what was offered on the menu.||||The television in the living space did not work the 2nd day which really left nothing to do when not on the game drives. There weren't even any board games or a deck of cards to allow guest to amuse themselves.||||This business has great potential if the owner or managers would spend a little money to get more people to come in as...

I can only say that it was the best experience in a long time. Really breathtakingly beautiful landscape and extremely super attentive and very courteous service. Special thanks to Julia, Marco and Graham. The three of them are a really strong team and they take excellent care of their guests and the animals in the park. Big compliments also to the new management of the park. I am very happy to know that the animals are in good hands and that in the future the lions, which are now still in the fenced-in free range, will soon be able to move into a much larger area and the new lions will be able to move freely in the park. All in all, extremely recommendable. 100% mega cool !!!!

Ich kann einfach nur sagen das es das wirklich beste Erlebnis war seit langen. Wirklich Atemberaubend schöne Landschaft und extrem super aufmerksame und sehr zuvorkommender Service. Spezieller Dank an Julia,Marco und Graham. Die drei sind wirklich ein Starkes Team und kümmern sich hervorragend um ihre Gäste und die Tiere im Park. Großes Lob auch an das neue Management des Parks. Ich bin sehr glücklich zu wissen das die Tiere in guten Händen sind und das in Zukunft die jetzt noch im eingezäunten Freilauf befindlichen Löwen, bald in ein viel größeres Gelände bekommen und die neuen Löwen sich im Park komplett frei bewegen dürfen. Alles in allem extrem zu empfehlen. Zu 100% mega cool!!!!

I am very disappointed with the stay this time around at the resort. The chalet we slept in wasn't cleaned properly, it was freezing cold and the heater we got did very little to keep us warm. The food was underwhelming to say the least. We paid R225 for supper each and the lamb was not well done and the breakfast sausage was expired and raw and the eggs where burnt. The staff was nice and helpful but forgot to help us with our luggage from the chalet. We needed a fire place at the chalet or atleast a gas heater and we had no wifi in the chalet. Gowns and morning shoes should be offered as well as snacks inside the chalets or at the main res where we ate supper since the resort is far from town and alcohol free ciders should be included at the bar. I felt that transport was an issue. The chef should be available to do meals all day as per guests needs and we don't mind paying for those meals. Room service should therefore be included. We need a small bar fridge and a microwave and you can put things in the fridge and add the prices for them if they've been used as part of the bill. The shower and bath was nice with very warm water. Thank you for the kettle but there was no iron nor an ironing board and not enough still water...
