We picked this place to split up our drive from Joburg to Manyoni Game Reserve. It looked so wonderful we decided to book 2 nights instead of the 1 in our plans. I'm soooooo glad we did as it was everything and more.||Let's start off with the accommodation, it's spotless, wonderfully authentic and set in gardens that are a delight. ✅||The food is all homemade, delicious and so filling. Washed down with a glass or 2 from the most extensive wine reserve I've ever seen. ✅||The setting. As someone has described previously its completely off the grid. I could've sat forever on the veranda watching the river flow by with a glass in my hand ✅||And this review cannot be complete without mentioning the hosts, Patricia and Duifue. They are just wonderful and give this place the homely feel it rightly deserves. We cannot thank them enough for being the perfect hosts ✅💯||If you happen to come across this place by searching the web or however do what we did and book it. Trust me you will not be disappointed with this...
Read moreThis was an absolutely fantastic little place to stay for a couple of nights to recharge our batteries as we drove down from the Kruger National Park to south of Durban.||I really cannot give Patricia and Daanie (and their team) enough praise, I rate it that highly.||OK, so the drive in the dark down the access road was a little unnerving (after a problem with the gate intercom system), but added to the overall enjoyment - it's not often you get an ostrich roosting in the road as you drive it.||Our rondeval was spotlessly clean, spacious and very, very comfortable. The shower was powerful, the hot water was plentiful, and there were a host of little goodies for us, including a decanter of sherry.||The meals which Patricia prepared herself were simply outstanding. We (a party of 4) tried to convince her to write her own book - Patricia's Game Lodge recipe Book - and I sincerely hope she does. And the game drive with Daanie was outstanding.||In summary, an absolute gem of a place to...
Read moreNestled in the hills, amongst the trees and above the bubbling Pivaan river lies this absolute gem of a place. About 4kms off the main road we stayed in the deluxe cottage with its own little deck fabulously furnished and extremely well appointed. You lack for nothing from a well prepared fireplace , to fridges,to fruit ,to umbrellas, to cel phone reception, to DsTv (never used it) extremely comfortable beds, shower, bath etc etc The separate lounge and bar is uniquely old South African with an exceptional bar made from the yellowwood forests of Knysna and a view of the river and countryside which is quite stunning. The food is delightful, home cooked by the marvelously attentive hostess Duifie who goes out of her way to make your stay an unforgettable experience. You can laze by the pool, wallow in the river or look for an amazing variety of birds as well as buck. This is a place not...
