OAK LANE B&B — Hotel in Elundini Local Municipality

I’m currently staying at the Oak Lane B&B. It’s my first time . This place is really immaculate, for the hospitality I give them 5 stars.

They really went above and beyond my expectations, the room has Everything You need in order to have a comfortable stay. The kitchenette has everything You need , it’s stocked with so much coffee/tea/ milk/rusks/ nuts, even hand wipes, mints.

The bathroom is clean and has all the items and fresh towel and extra towels on the bed. There’s electric blanket and heater, since this province is very cold for some of Us from other provinces. This place so safe, and private, You really get to enjoy privacy. You have your remote so You can come and go easily.

The lady that cleans is super respectful and kind. There’s even peaceful sleep spray in your room and toilet spray in the bathroom.

The reason I mention all this is because in my previous trip I stayed in another B&B and did not enjoy my stay.

Oak Lane owners did an amazing Job with decor, furniture , choice of snacks, water bottles and providing all the comfort that a guest can appreciate, this really deserve a 5 star. They even have an umbrella by The door incase it rains, Even though you park your car right by your room.

This is really a home away from Home. I highly recommend this B&B for people, honestly. They have gained a Guest for life as I have to travel to this area frequently. FYI. In case You forget to pack They offer toothpaste, pain medication, eno, citro soda etc to save You from driving around looking for a place to buy medication or toothpaste, such convenience and very thoughtful. The only advice I can give them is to pay attention to the bed sheets, make sure they are clean and fresh.

We recently spent a night at the above B&B in Maclear on our way back from a week's visit in The Drakensberg. We booked in for dinner, bed and breakfast before heading off on our trip home.||||We received a nice, friendly welcome and the dinner and breakfast was very pleasant. However our accommodation left a lot to be desired. We were housed in another building up the garden which comprised a bedroom and ensuite. The entry door went straight into the bedroom - however there was NO window whatsoever in the bedroom and the only natural light came from a narrow panel or two of yellow frosted glass in the door. The room was very small comprising a small double bed and bedside tables either side and then perhaps another 18" more space each side. It was slightly longer in length and included tea/coffee making facilities, microwave and fridge. There was a lovely dish of fresh fruit and an abundant supply of cookies, etc. which was nice.||||The bathroom was plenty large enough in size housing a small wardrobe (no room in the bedroom for this!), a shower which we found had to be handheld to be of any use and very difficult to get the hot/cold right, a toilet and washbasin. Unfortunately the hot water here came out of the cold water tap and vice-versa so nearly burnt my mouth when cleaning teeth. There were two mirrors in the bathroom - none in the bedroom - obviously no power supply in the bathroom and consequently an impossibility to use a hairdryer and use a mirror at the same time!||||Unfortunately with the lack of a window in the bedroom claustrophobia set in - result very little sleep! It felt very prison-like.||||Now we have seen pictures of other accommodation in the B&B which looked very nice. We appeared to be the only guests there so perhaps we might have been better...

Lettie and Pieter have been running their b&b for 18 months. They are trying hard to make their guests feel at home. Our room was on the small side, a little too much furniture - the computer desk and chair could be taken out comfortably. Our booking had been in place for a few weeks; in common with some other b&b's, the decision on which room we were to have seemed to be undecided on our arrival. This is something that doesn't happen, we felt, in experienced b&b's. Peter came to load electricity in our room and also bring the tea/coffee tray with nibbles for 2 persons. The shower needs improving, it was hard to get the water temp right. We had an evening meal there, a big plateful of chicken, veg etc, followed by sponge pudding. You have to order breakfast from a list provided, giving it to Lettie the evening before. We did this, asking if one of us could have 2 cold items instead of the cooked part - this was fine. However, we went to breakfast to find much more on the table. We actually only wanted what we'd ordered. Lettie, your guests won't be disappointed if you just give them what they've ordered. More important is to have the coffee on ready for breakfast and not towards the end of the meal.
