Elands Valley - Stone Lodge — Hotel in Emakhazeni Local Municipality

My husband and I decided to spend time at this beautiful place, although most of the green was just starting to come out because it is the start of spring, the place was absolutely beautiful,very well maintained, animals everywhere, such a peaceful and tranquil place. The room was beautifully set and cleaned and you can for sure say the staff take pride in appearance. Coming from the industry myself I know how staff get groggy late nights but due to car troubles we arrived just before 7pm and I was so shocked with the brilliant service and willingness to go that extra mile, that was absolutely the highlight to see how much they care for guests. We did not want to be disturbed so we requested they only come once to clean and we left them to it while exploring the town, upon return our unit was cleaned quickly and efficiently and a freshly baked bread to spoil us from TA Glara. We wanted to say goodbye but staff were off because its Sunday which is so amazing to see the owners doing that for them but we would like to thank the team for and exceptional stay..... We stayed in the very romantic Strawberry Fields Cottage, and I must say that we had an amazing time. The service from the moment we arrived was great and friendly. A team was waiting to help us unpack the car, which was done in less than 3 minutes thanks to their help.

The cleaning the next day was done by the same team in about 10 minutes, with any problems immediately sorted and the fire for the evening being setup for us. We were even pleasantly surprised by a delicious fresh bread being brought to us unexpectedly.

Rooms were clean and neat and rustic with small little things one wouldn't even think of being present. Nothing was left out of place. The lack of cell reception was also actually welcome, it really helped us to unwind.

We decide to take a short break to do some trout fishing. Farm is beautiful. Lots of birds and two otter sightings were a highlight. Two days of fishing saw three trout actually rise and thats between 05:00 and 18:30. Not a single bump. I watched something swim across the second largest dam from wall to fishing jetty about 150m on the surface. Nothing even went for it. Dams are full of weed. Strawberry Fields cottage in need of a major upgrade from the leaking roof to showers that are minute. No where does it mention this cottage is located between animal pens and chicken houses. Crowing roosters at 03:00 has a special appeal. Other cottages look better but if its fishing you want try...
