With its tranquil ambiance and the passionate hospitality of its owners, it will be cherished forever! Jacky and Bentley's boundless energy found purpose in digging for moles, chasing the graceful blesbok, and reveling in the joy of simply being outdoors. The early mornings and evenings envelope you, wrapping you in a refreshing embrace as you venture out on solo walks. Jacky and Bentley, my faithful companions, eagerly joined me every time. The serenity of these walks offers a chance to reconnect with yourself and the world around you. The redolent smells of the countryside surrounds you, awakening your senses to the earthy aromas of the countryside, and the sounds of the birdlife (sounds you just don’t hear in the suburbs of Jozi – no Hadadas!!). Each breath is a reminder of the beauty of nature's embrace, of the simple pleasures that bring so much joy. During the sun-drenched days and eerily misty nights, you find solace in the quiet of nature. The sounds of birds during the day, and the clear sight of the milky way at night. The most rewarding of this countryside lodge is that the dogs come first. They are catered for before humans. And no request is too big! This place is everything you want in a quiet, relaxed getaway! I would suggest taking a 4x4 vehicle as it makes the drive easier but once there, the views every morning are spectacular - buck running around and a beautiful dam to look out over! Breakfast every morning overlooking the dam made for the perfect start. A walk to the top of the property, with the buck running about, will bring you to an area with an incredible view! This is something you need to see as photos don't do it justice! ||||The chalets (and especially bathrooms) are beautifully kept, comfortable and absolutely spotless! The kitchens are well-stocked with everything you need in terms of utensils and braai equipment - including large tongs! ||||As for the hosts, Ildi and Terrance were the definition of perfect hosts! What an amazing couple! They were kind enough to drive us into Dullstroom in the morning and fetch us again in the afternoon as our little city car was definitely not suited to the roads. Most cars will make the drive (very slowly) but a 4x4 makes it much easier! This was a birthday trip for us and Ildi and Terrance made it even more special by having a birthday card waiting in our room as we walked in. From the moment that you arrive at the gate, the incredible sense of peace and the smell of pine envelopes you, and you are drawn into a state of relaxation. The properly fenced-off gardens of each unit allow your dogs to have amazing adventures but still within the safety of where you are and can keep an eye on them. Finn The Boxer Dog and his sister Daisy had an incredible weekend at Greystone Lodge and passed out from sheer exhaustion and absolute fresh air every night. And jumped for joy every morning when we opened the door, to run and explore and say hi to their friends in the neighbouring gardens. The chalets are beautifully kitted out, and you want for nothing. Sharp knives, wine openers, can openers, if you think it, it is there. The linen in the bedrooms, beautiful quality. Behind the front door is a doggie basket with bowls and towels for your furkids. They really have thought of everything. And then there is the water, oh my goodness. The nicest tasting water ever. We loved it, the furkids loved it, we wanted to take gallons of it home. Just a short walk from each chalet is the most stunning lake, the water is clear and the fly fishing was simply awesome. A very thoughtful touch is the owners welcoming you to the lodge with a litre of the freshest tasting farm milk. The cream on the top of an incredible weekend.
