Heysbrook Estate — Hotel in Emakhazeni Local Municipality

We had a great stay here over Easter with extended family (10 of us), and the lodge was if anything better than expected. Heysbrook is well set up to absorb groups of various sizes, as the rooms are separate to the 2 "lodges" you can book for your group, which have large exclusive spaces to hang out, cook, play games, swim etc. We stayed at Heys Lodge, which was the bigger space, and came with exclusive use of the "Summerhouse" how by the river, with river pool, bar, kitchen, toilet and braai areas. We barely saw the group of guests from the Bokani Forest Lodge, who had their own infinity pool and entertainment areas separate to ours. We didn't have to pick up after ourselves at all with the staff looking after us very well (there was even an option for them to cook for you, which we didn't use). Lots of walks on the property (be warned - lots of hills!) including a walk into the old gold mine up the hill, some indigenous Bokani ruins, and a lovely picnic site up top to walk or drive to (also with braai and toilet facilities). ||Very well conceptualised on a...

Where should a person start?... Heysbrook is amazing! we arrived on Friday night, so needless to say we could not really see much, however the cottage, where we meet our family (the cottage itself already takes a persons breath away!) the outside braai area, already makes you want to get a drink and braai perfect meat, then the inside of the cottage is so clean! we saw a gecko, however we named him Liam and he helped keep all the mosquito's out of the room! Amazing stay!! We celebrated my husband’s 30th birthday with friends and family! The Bakoni Forest Lodge was absolutely beautiful with amazing mountain views and a lovely boma area! The rooms were were exquisite and very clean. Cozy fireplace, outdoor shower and the comfiest bed with an amazing view! The Melrose Summerhous was the perfect place have our birthday party and enjoy the sounds of the river flowing next to the deck! ||The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, always ready to assist!
