Challenging golf course but enjoyable. The staff generally are very competent and helpful with one exception. Very chaotic when it comes to the groups of players teeing off. We were a 2 ball and a 3 ball and on our last round, there were apparently people behind us who were complaining about us teeing off as a 5 ball. As can be seen in the one photo we were definitely not a 5 ball. Ferdi, the maintenance man saw us teeing off in two groups and when we asked him who complained, he could not (or would not) tell us. When we reminded him that he was there and saw us teeing off as 2 groups his excuse was that he was not on the course to watch us. As it was whenever we had a 1 ball or 2 ball behind us we let them play through. I don't even recall seeing another 4 ball the whole week. Ferdi is seriously lacking in customer skills with his tone and attitude. Also on our last round, our tee times were changed to 6:45 from 7:00 by someone when we had received emailed confirmation before we arrived. This already doesn't make sense as that gaps inbetween tee times are usually 8 mins. When we arrived at the tee at 6:30 the course was still being maintained and even at 6:41 they were still cutting the fairways. Ferdi of course jumped on his walkie talkie and blamed everyone else. It seems the little authority that he has been given has gone to his head. He reminded me of a referee that got a new whistle...

Thank you for an Incredible Golf Tour at Highland Gate!

I wanted to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude to Ian for the exceptional experience we had during our recent golf tour at Highland Gate. Ian's warm and welcoming atmosphere, coupled with his outstanding hospitality, truly made this trip a memorable one.

First and foremost, a huge thank you for accommodating us with our golf games. Your expertise and attention to detail ensured that we had a seamless experience on the course. We appreciate your efforts in making us feel comfortable and providing us with an unforgettable golfing adventure.

Additionally, I would like to extend my sincerest thanks to Bronwen for her invaluable assistance throughout our stay. The two houses we stayed at were nothing short of perfect, providing us with the utmost comfort and relaxation after a day on the course. Bronwen's exceptional service and willingness to go the extra mile truly made a difference. Her attentiveness and dedication truly made our stay at Highland Gate exceptional.

The golf course at Highland Gate has always been one of my favorites, and this trip lived up to all expectations. The stunning scenery, challenging fairways, and well-maintained course were a joy to experience.

We look forward to visiting Highland Gate again and experiencing the incredible golfing experience and impeccable...

Golf course is always a pleasure to play but for almost R1000 a round per person, I’m not convinced it’s worth it. The carts where in bad condition with half the foam of the seats hanging out, cigarette buts and old golf balls still in them, nobody bothers to wet your towel, halfway very average (which you still have to pay for outside your green fees, again with green fees at this price I would at least expect a sandwich thrown in) and then lastly the Proshop staff, not really interested in their job, don’t give any guidance of where to get your carts (which is in the car park where you’ve just hauled your bag all the way from), generally just unfriendly and give you a feeling of doing them a favour of being there. Sat behind their desk and don’t even bother to stand up and greet you on arrival - Sloppy. All in all I’ve played this course on numerous occasions and I love the course but won’t be in a hurry to get back until they make it worth the money you’re paying. A really pity as it’s one of my all time favourite golf courses in SA. Leaves a sense of mismanagement in my head, won’t be heading back anytime soon. 2.6 stars and that’s mainly just for...

Went there on a Boys golf trip, booked through 87 Events. It's was an absolutely brilliant experience. The house we had for the weekend was excellent! Big kitchen, entertainment areas and bedrooms. Everything you could need is already there for you. The house is also cleaned daily, to near spotless, with all your dishes and utensils washed too. The golf course is phenomenal, kept in immaculate condition, it offers great views from almost every hole. Not a jam packed course where you and your foruball are continuously rushed either. Friendly staff round off the superb golfing experience. Another good thing about this place is that it's very self sufficient. Wether it is charcoal, fire lighters, ice, bread, rolls or even Panado's the clubhouse is well equipped (and stocked) to give you almost everything you may need. The food offered by both the halfway clubhouse and the restaurant above is brilliant! Huge portions, great quality and very decently priced. Definitely will visit again and definitely would recommend for golfing. Not much else to do otherwise. No pools in the houses and no signal(MTN) or Wi-Fi either.

Situated on the Dullstroom area within 10 minutes from the main street of Dullstroom and aprox 2.5 hours drive from Johannesburg. The roads from JHB to Highland Gate are good dual lane roads for the majority of the journey. Highland Gate rental homes are all fairly new and well kitted out. Best place to be in winter as its very high up and surrounded by mountains and streams. The gireplaces in the homes add to the winter charm. The golf course is stunning, offering very long fairways, tricky layouts and amazing views. It's very long so carts are a must. Cost is aprox R1000 per golfer with shared cart & halfway meal included. It's always busy so booking in advance is a must.
