Mountain View Cottage — Hotel in Emakhazeni Local Municipality

STAY AWAY. Dangerous Terrible stay. The road if you can call it that. Jagged rocks that can cut tyres, dongas where you can get stucks,potholes, steep inclines and very steep and narrow cow grates where a large 4x4 can get stuck or damaged if you have not done a 4x4 course. This is after driving through a township..at night. No signs or arrows or any indication that you are going in the right direction no lights once you arrive so good luck getting the property. Due to the horrible "road" any plans you had to go fishing and go eat out because you are on a holiday is ruined. If you didn't pack enough food - good luck. So if cooking and cleaning and being terrified is your idea of relaxation go for it. Once there you can go for a walk. Nothing to do there. No dams. If you try to make the best of it and watch TV you can sit on couches designed for the 7 dwarfs.. So awful and uncomfortable. Beds that are like sleeping on ironing boards and I'm my case found a cockroach on my pillow that jumped into my hair! Worst valentine's weekend ever..in short... No mountain no view.. Its a cottage in the veld with kopptjies.. That's it.STAY AWAY.. Not if you pay me. Owners were nice to us but their place is awful and should not be available as accomadation to the general public....

We enjoyed a fantastic stay at Mountain View Cottage. The name describes it well as you wake up with a beautiful sunrise over the mountain of Verlorenvlei-Nature Reserve. Bring some binoculars with as there’s plenty to view from distance. A brilliant venue for kids and pets with lots of playing and running area around the house and farm. Make sure that you have a high clearance vehicle to drive there, and perhaps a 4x4 during the rainy season. The cottage is very clean and clearly prepared with love. There’s a nice braai and fireplace with an unlimited supply of wood! The hosts truly went out of their ways to make our stay as pleasurable and relaxing as possible. We placed one mattress on in front of the fireplace to make the most of it. Also good to mention is that my Vodacom signal strength was pretty strong with 4G connection. We will definitely be back again, just then bringing the mountain...

Everything was perfect. The unit has a very well equipped kitchen. Overall cozy, and trendy. Wood, fire-lighters, and matches are supplied as a starter pack. Should you need more wood, this you have to buy in town or bring along. The fireplace is set up for your arrival, which was great! Well fenced for smaller dogs, who can run around to their hearts content. Great water pressure, and super hot water. Plenty blankets and warm duvets, with plenty of pillows. The road was not bad at all with a high clearance SUV, and the locals from the settlement are friendly and helpful. Mountain view is a little gem, very quiet and pieceful. Low light also allows for great night sky and star...
