Korundum Lodge — Hotel in Emfuleni Local Municipality

I had booked 3 rooms in Jan 2020 for the Vaal Marathon on 1 Mar, paid and confirmed from KL for the 1 night stay. ||Received a phone call from Nozipho on 11 Feb asking me what is happening in Vereeniging that weekend because KL has been getting a lot of calls about accommodation over that weekend and she doesn’t know why... 🤔 I proceeded to tell her it’s the Vaal Marathon that weekend and confirmed with her that our 3 rooms were still secured - Nozipho: “yes, yes, yes”.||I then followed up post-call with a Booking.com message and again received confirmation of our stay from the Manager. ||A week later, we received a cancellation request on Booking.com and now less than 2 weeks before our race.||My guess is that KL preferred to secure guests staying for 2 nights as opposed to 5 people staying for 1 night. Needless to say we were left in the lurch and no one has even come back to me with an apology/explanation.||Totally undeserving of the 8.3 rating on Booking.com. I have had a very good experience at the Korundum lodge. I have had excellent communication before even arriving at the lodge. The owners work very hard to maintain the place and are wonderful people. They have been more then welcoming. It's a home away from home. The staff were extra helpful and very welcoming. They are all a great bunch of people. With the communication I received I knew exactly what my room would look like even before I got there. Very cosy little place, with a amazing and caring owner. She was willing to help us out at very late notice.||Clean bed, room and bathroom. Air con in the room for the cold! Just what we needed. Not a chocolate on the pillow and complimentary smalls kind of place but better than expected. ||There is a little patio in the garden that looks pleasant, and a pool.
