Bokmakierie Country Lodge — Hotel in Emnambithi/Ladysmith Local Municipality

We arrived at Bokmakierie and discovered that there was no receptionist to log us in! The only indication that we were booked was our names appearing on a white board at the entrance. Dispite having booked three rooms we were allocated four according to the notice board. We found our keys on hooks displaying the various room numbers. All in all we settled into three of the rooms that were neat, clean, spacious and tastefully decorated. The whole lodge is very nicely furnished and equipped. The views across the country club are stunning. The rooms are great with bath, shower, TV (DSTV), tea & coffee, etc. In looking around a bit, there is a slight lack of maintenance e.g. tennis court, swimming pool. There is little option for dinner and the whole meal is placed at the table (incl the salad and dessert under cling wrap). A coke and ginger beer can is also placed at your setting. Totally disappointed! The room is very outdated. The bed is so low and the mattress is very uncomfortable. Booked a room for 2 . 1 set of towels when we arrived . Only 2 very lumpy pillows on the bed , 1 each . The bar fridge was not turned on. The plugs in the basins in the bathroom don't work. They have fancy taps with a lever for the plug , it doesn't release . You have to scratch with your fingernails to lift the plug. Aircon is outdated . Has been on for over an hour , the room temperature is the same. It turns on and off outside the room , down a flight of stairs . I have stayed at way better for MUCH less...
