Blue Rain Guesthouse — Hotel in Free State

Great venue and amazing location. So I was there to shoot a client on behalf of Taboo Frequencies ( a local company ) so everything is booked off and confirmed. As we're shooting from the afternoon. Things we're going well until some new guests arrived.

Great group of people, student athletes from out of town there was about 10 or so of them along with about 15 of the people I was shooting. Here's where I got confused, my client ( Sotho ) where told to keep the the noise down for what ever reason. While the student athletes were booked and accompanied by their coaches ( Afrikaans ) so at some point they had an entire Bluetooth speaker blasting music and yet my clients we the ones being told to keep the noise down while they were just speaking to each other.

So I took a walk around the venue to look for a place to shoot my client outside of the room they booked. On one end of the property I couldn't hear the Bluetooth speaker or my clients. So at his point I'm confused as it gets. How on earth does it get to that point. By the way the rest of the stuff members were super helpful and friendly but this one old lady by the reception area wasn't having any of it.

Imagine my shock when the Athlete's coaches had to step in on behalf my client and apologizes for the behaviour of her athletes. So that my client wouldn't get the blame for the noise. At some point this Old Lady reminded my clients that they booked the shoot till sunset on for one of the staff members had to let her know that my client booked the room for the night on behalf of the person I'm shooting. Who would be the only people spending the night.

My client couldn't wake up early enough to pick up her child from the venue the next day. Luckily nobody saw the old lady after the interaction from the other staff members so the client says that everything was fine through out the night till morning.

Otherwise great venue and great people just too bad one person had to be a stain on a...

Maybe some of us know these moments – After a long and hard drive, each bone, each muscle feels tired. The last kilometres in your car you fight against, this exhaustion and after you have arrived, you are looking forward to have a shower and your only desire is a bed. After one of these days, I have arrived at Bluerain Guesthouse, but a few seconds later, there happened something magic. After Amandas very warm welcome, my mood changed. I didn't want to go to bed and I was not able to stop my discovery tour, around this beautiful place. Behind this beautiful place, Inyalas, Springboks and my new friend, the Zonkey were waiting for me, to give me a special entertainment. When it got darker, i decided to go back to the guest house, but I couldn't stop to enjoy everything around this unique property. ||Some guests, Amanda the manager, Lizelle and Andre the owners, showed me the African way of life. With a very warm hospitality, we were sitting together, as we've known us, since a couple of years. ||After a wonderful breakfast in the guest house and some business meetings in Bloemfontain, I was very happy to have an another night in this wonderful place. It could be possible, to enhance my impressions from the day before, but what happened on this evening, was unbelievable. Andre decided for a spontaneous braai. Some guests, friends were sitting together, enjoyed the food and after it got dark, a young guy started to play with his guitar. The world around us, was turned off, each kind off stress and negative thoughts were forgotten. What counted was the „here and now“.||Thank you Amanda, Lizelle and Andre – I come back as soon as possible, to have another possibility, to stay in your wonderful and magic place.
