Elrido Guest Lodge — Hotel in Free State

We booked at Elrido lodge a year ago and had a lovely stay. When we needed accommodation last week we didn’t even look for other establishments and we were looking forward to spending time at Elrido again. We were very disappointed!! I phoned a couple of days before our stay to ask that a receipt is mailed to me to hand in at work for a refund, I have not received it yet. The day before our stay I received an email to check in online, which I completed and we were checked into room 1. Upon arrival the lady said room 1 was already occupied, we would have to stay in room 2 which overlooked on the parking area. The coffee plunger was not washed, it had coffee in from the previous use. The shower’s drainage was poor, one had to stand in the water that didn’t flow away. The distractor fan in the bathroom did not work. The tv remote did not work. One of the wall plugs near the bed did not work and was loose, which could potentially be a fire hazard. We got the impression that Elrido was under staffed as the same lady who checked us in, also worked in the kitchen the following morning and served us breakfast. At least the bed was comfortable, but after this disappointing experience we will unfortunately not return to...

Manager leaves after 2pm so you're on your own.||Literally a dark building with an open door anyone can walk in to.||I had to knock on the caretaker's door at night because the electricity doesn't work in the plugs. Couldn't work on laptop (the reason we stayed over), turn on kettle, charge cellphone etc.||The poor caretaker tried every room to the obvious annoyance of the manager.||I ended up in a cold room in the parking lot but at least I had electricity...until that stopped working.||Manager stopped taking our calls after I complained.||Then in the morning tried to blame it on the caretaker. Then tried to blame me for not calling her so I showed her she had ignored our calls. Then she tried to blame lockdown but it was pointed out that electricians are essential workers... it goes on but after a night of no sleep I just have no time to say how scared, cold and miserable I was.||When I complained to work (who booked the room) it turns out my colleague had the exact same stay last year. We will not be using it again.||It's a pity because the rooms are beautiful and the general staff and the maintenance man...

My wife and I and our two daughters spent 1 night at Elrido Guest Lodge. We booked two deluxe double rooms located on the ground floor which were clean, as well as spacious and comfortable for a 1-night stop-over. The rooms have nice modern en-suite bathrooms with large walk-in showers. The kitchenettes in the rooms, including refrigerator, microwave and kitchenware were very convenient.||The property is in a pleasant quiet area, and there is plenty of safe secure parking as the property is walled and has electronic security gates. Being on the ground floor, we were also able to park right outside our room. ||Unfortunately, we did not make use of any other property facilities as we arrived late and left early in the morning, and as it was raining extremely hard, we spent all our time in our rooms.||Overall, it was a very convenient 1-night...
