Do you like cramped rooms with small single beds? Do you like to shower in a bath with a curtain? Do you like noisy contractors as neighbours? Then this is the place for you. ||||I spent an unfortunate week here. It looked like a decent place with the fancy entrance and promising restaurant. But it wasn't. With each shower, the torrent of water flooded the room. The small CRT TV (dating back to the 80ties) had broken buttons and no remote. The room was small and so was the bed. Bedding and matress quality was that of cheap a road side motel. ||||One night I did not get much sleep because drunk contractors who stayed at the hotel, were drinking outside their rooms on the curb inside the lodge's grounds. Gamagara Guest House is an absolute gem and a perfect stopover, especially if you’re traveling halfway back to Johannesburg. From the moment we arrived, Vicky, the host, made us feel incredibly special with her warm hospitality. Despite booking at the last minute, our room was immaculately prepared, featuring the best quality linen on the bed for a luxurious night’s sleep.
The amenities are top-notch. The pool area is stunning, providing a peaceful space to relax, while the bathroom is state-of-the-art, offering both a shower and bath that feel like pure luxury.
The breakfast was another highlight of our stay. It included an incredible variety—cereals, yogurt, fresh fruit salad, filter coffee, and a selection of teas. The full cooked breakfast was a feast: sausage, sweetcorn fritters, pap, eggs, bacon, mushrooms, toast, and jams. It was hearty, delicious, and exceeded our expectations.
To top it all off, the price is unbelievably reasonable for the quality of service and amenities offered. Gamagara Guest House is a must-stay for anyone in the area or passing through—it’s a place where comfort, quality, and hospitality come together beautifully. Highly...
Read moreWe visited Kathu when my husband participated in the Kalahari Golf Challenge. We stayed at Gamagara for 4 nights. ||The room we stayed in was small but adequate. The bedding and the amenities was of high quality. The room provided most creature comforts (Cable TV, Aircon, Coffee & Tea facilities, fridge). The room was cleaned daily and the bedding was changed once while we were there. ||I was not too impressed with the breakfast but I am hard to please when it comes to food. The others in our group were satisfied with the meals.||The service is good and the people are friendly. Safe parking.||We will definitely return. The rates are affordable considering the high quality of the...
