I travel a LOT for work and do not give credit too easily. In this case, it will be my pleasure... We were a group of five, sharing two self-catering bungalows, for a strategic planning session over two days/nights. Night one we dined in the restaurant, and it was great. We all had different meals and every one of us were impressed. Service was efficient and very friendly and relaxed. The vibe was good with a few other tables also in. On night two we not only self-catered but received 8 friends as guests. To arrange this properly we needed extra-ordinary requests filled. The Red Sands team went way above and beyond to accommodate us, brining in extra tables, extra crockery, and even a fire conger. The GM himself did most of the running up & down in his bakkie. Rooms and facilities are great, with many of the little things that annoy me elsewhere not a problem here, such as convenient power points for charging phones bedside, place to put down your personal stuff in the bathrooms etc. And the setting, well it's just perfect Kalahari! Most noticeable of all however, is that the team are a happy, pleasant, willing and friendly lot. Altogether a...

We stayed two nights at the premium camp site (with own ablutions) at Red Sands Country Lodge. The location is very good since it is located directly in the middle between Johannesburg and KTP. Also, the property itself is very neat and the restaurant serves good food. At the last day the internet didn’t work but the staff was extremely endeavors to help us. However, there were some points which could have been better. Our shower didn’t work properly as only extreme hot or ice cold water came. Obviously, the mixer was defect. We complained at the reception and it was promised to solve the problem. However, this was not the case until we left. So no shower for us. Moreover, the restroom was not as clean as we expected it to be. It was ok but for such a nice lodge we thought it would be even cleaner. For example, hair from previous guests and a crushed spider were still in the shower area. The bin was also not emptied. At our last night it was also quite noisy around. Of course this can depend from night to night but we couldn’t sleep well. In generell, however, we can recommend the camp site as the location...

Beautiful setting, but a bit overpriced compared to other similar accommodation.

We were three adults staying for one night in one of the rondavels (bungalows). While the setting of Red Sands Country Lodge is beautiful and secluded, away from the main road, we found the accommodation itself rather basic; especially considering the price. Compared to similar places we've stayed at, it felt a bit overpriced for what we got.

That said, the lodge grounds are lovely and clearly well looked after. We really enjoyed our dinner at the restaurant, which was delicious, and the atmosphere in the surrounding area is tranquil and inviting. It's a pity we didn’t have more time to explore the nature reserve and other facilities on offer; they certainly seem to add more value if you're staying longer.

In summary: a beautiful setting and a great restaurant, but for a simple one-night stopover, the accommodation felt expensive relative to...

The 'Go Ghaap' Heritage Route is a route that every South African must undertake. So much our our heritage can be found on this route. If traveling you can enjoy the area and the people at Red Sands Country Lodge. The place is very well managed and staff our out of this world. You can enjoy the natural environment from the comfort of you room as you a place right in the center of Kuruman. This stop over is a must and you will not be disappointed. So come out and support what can be found in the area and enjoy the warmth of the area. Image: Cami Plaatjes, Khumo Matlhoko and Angelo Doyle

Red Sands was recommended by a friend for our stay as a halfway stopover between Karrasburg and Pretoria. We expected a lot and got even more than expected. We were surprised by the hospitality and friendliness of the staff. The rooms were clean and offered everything we needed. The rooms aircon was a relief from the cold and made our stay comfortable. We enjoy a awesome breakfast before we had to hit the road with a feeling of, yes, we will be back. Red Sand is a very strong recommendation.
