Karoo Nights — Hotel in Gariep Local Municipality

I wasn't at all impressed with this place. Other than the warm welcome there was nothing great about it. The location was stated as being in Colesberg, it wasn't, it was 60km out. It was advertised as a 1 bedroom apartment but instead it was a family room in an old hostel. The walls were so thin we had to whisper to ensure our privacy. There was supposed to be wifi and select dstv channels but none of those were there. No loadshedding schedule was given so we were unexpectedly in the dark. Just terrible. Would never stay there again or recommend to anyone. Our room had no key so we had to sleep overnight with our valuables in an unlocked room.Place is in the middle of nowhere with no cellphone reception. The host was nonchalant when we cited our concerns. Our family in the next room had half their curtains missing and complained of smelly towels. Dinner was lamb cutlets and most of the lamb was fatty and our party of 4 went to bed still hungry. Photos of the place were different...

We had a wonderful 3 night stay at Karoo Nights on this beautiful sheep farm. Katie and her team welcomed us and nothing was too much trouble. The guest house does have a generator. I recommend a stroll to sunset bench to appreciate the beauty surrounding the farm. The breakfasts and dinners we had requested were generous and delicious ( the best roast leg of lamb and koeksisters I have ever tasted ) The rooms are clean and comfortable.
