Gabbata Lodge Wedding Venue and Conference Centre — Hotel in Gauteng

So although their food is great, DO NOT use them for a wedding venue. After we recieved the initial quote for our wedding, we paid our deposit, only to find out that when we had to paid the full amount that she "made a mistake". This "mistake" the owner made, cost my wife and I almost R20'000.00 extra to be paid after the initial quote was accepted and that she cannot keep her promise on the initial quote. She did not want to accept her mistake and insisted we have to pay the additional R200.00 per person.

Further more, the menu discussed and provided was not the same although still great. She also contacted us about 2 to 3 weeks after the wedding and asked if we had seen one of their fridge holders. Mother of the bride had to tell the staff to not take the corkage fee champagne from the tables (still closed). Forgot some items at the venue and was not informed, tried contacting them without success, so eventually drove through and only got it back then.

Will never recommend...

Was looking for a change to our usual routine and decided to book at Gabatta for a Sunday meal. Service from the start was poor. Was seated in a outside thatched / tented area. Seating was plastic a chair on paving and quite overcrowded. Cutlery was so excessive that the waitress had difficulty placing our coffees on the table. Drinks order took long and the cream in my cappuccino was off. I requested the bill and will never go there again. I was surprised to see that the actual restaurant had comfortable seating, however does not look the same to where I was seated. My suggestion would be for the Gabatta to ensure seating is standardized (all seats and tables look the same and of same quality).....the prices on the menu certainly are. Experience was not what I was looking for. Not...

Made an arrangement for Matric Farewell photo's on their premises. They agreed telephonically and on email to certain terms and when we had to pay our bill on the day they changed their story. Added additional cost to the bill. When we enquired about it they said we made a mistake. We paid the bill on the day and followed it up with them the next day. The basically told me I was a lair and assumed certain terms and did not even try to resolve the matter. Did not apologize for making a mistake or refund the incorrect cost charged. Followed up with several emails. Not even the owner Mariette bothered to respond to my emails. Will not recommend this Venue. Unhelpful and incompetent staff....
