We recently hosted our daughterâs 3rd birthday at Gracia De Dios and it was a fantastic success HOWEVER⌠I was in the event industry for years, working on full scale festivals, corporate launches etc and I donât think without that experience, that this would have turned out the same way.
The Event Team The event team was very difficult to work with. They took days to answer emails, sometimes I would have to chase a response via email and WhatsApp.
I was constantly following up on quotes, making and supplying lists, asking for meetings or phone calls and asking all the important questions. I was solely responsible for driving the entire process from start to finish. It was the most frustrating process when they basically sat back and in fact were incredibly lazy.
At one point in this process, I raised my concern with the owner of the business who assured me this event manager was a âprofessionalâ and I would not be disappointed.
Days before the event, we met to finalise the invoice and I made the final payment based on the invoice I was sent by the head of the event team. Two days later she called to say she left off R3600 off the invoice. She started off by lying blaming their invoicing software, saying it was a glitch. When I refused to entertain the idea and said she could call my husband and explain it, she then text to say she made an error and would pay the amount.
As someone who worked in events for years, this was a ridiculously rookie error, which was not at all âprofessionalâ and indeed left such a sour taste in my mouth prior to the event even taking place.
With that being said⌠The food, set-up staff, waiters and exquisite setting really made the experience truly memorable for our daughter. We have numerous compliments on the event and venue.
I would recommend the venue ONLY if you, bring in your own events team to assist as the Gracia event team on offer are...
Read moreI really love going to Gracia de Dios and has recommended it to all my friends and family by now.
I was quite excited to share the Gracia experience with a group of friends but unfortunately you are not able to do a group booking for more than 10 people and order from their usual menu.
Their food are really nice and affordable when you order from their usual menu. All of us have different budgets therefore everyone usually have the opportunity to decide what they want to drink or eat according to their budget.
We tried to suggest various possible options like only giving us a limited menu choice e.g. toasted sandwiches or quiche that we can order beforehand to make it easier for them to be prepared. This was for a weekday morning,so also not on a peak Saturday which I might understand. Unfortunately Charlotte was not open to any suggestions to accommodate us except for platters (R500+ per platter) and buffet lunch (R240+) that everyone unfortunately can't afford.
So in general just feeling really disappointed by the fact that we were really excited to explore this gem with friends and the fact that they are unable to accommodate us.
PS on your feedback Charlotte:
It totally understand that Charlotte.
It still would have been nice if you offered an alternative like your salads, scones, croissants or cake that doesn't need to be warm instead of just being unable to accommodate us. You definitely would have had 18 people returning to your venue with their...
Read moreI've had the pleasure of attending a few events at Gracia De Dios, and this venue truly has it all! Whether you're planning a wedding anniversary, a milestone birthday, or any other special occasion, Gracia De Dios is the beautiful setting.
The lawn is simply breathtaking, and the venue caters to all ages, making it an ideal choice for family gatherings and events with kids. There are also some jungle gyms for kids, etc, but it's also a perfect event for adults only.
The indoor swimming pool is a stunning feature that's sure to impress your guests. The staff is friendly, fast, and helpful â they truly go above and beyond to ensure your event is nothing short of spectacular.
While I haven't had the opportunity to stay overnight, I'm sure the accommodations are lovely. However, I do want to warn that the road leading up to the venue is in very poor condition, with many potholes. And, if you're not staying over or living close by, I would strongly advise against driving home at night.
Overall, Gracia De Dios is a fantastic choice for any special event. Just be sure to plan ahead and make arrangements for transportation or accommodations, if needed. And book ahead. It seems like they are popular and...
