So mu husband arranged a getaway for us for the ONLY 2 days we had off. Take note we work from Monday to Sunday AND during the holidays as well!! My husband tried to call Tanya this morning but her phone was off. Well off we went to buy food for the 2 days. Cost us almost R2k, put Diesel in the car, another 2k and off we went. From Parkrand Boksburg. Drove all the way, sat in loadshedding traffic but we did not care because the ONLY 2 days we have off, we're going away. Booked a house sitter specially to look after the pets. So finally we get to the little dirt road that they talk about on their website. So excited that we were getting closer... around the corner and we're stuck, looking at a river that will sweep my Everest down river.. phone Tanya.. she asks.. can we come back tomorrow? Yes Tanya, we'll drive ALL THE WAY BACK HOME, AND ALL THE WAY BACK! Seriously??? OH Then she says, "I was waiting for you to call in order for me to let you know". Well clearly you were supposed to call us and told us not to waste our money and time because the river flooded the road! So now we're on our way back home. Wasted money, time and the ONLY 2 DAYS we had for ourselves. Definitely request a FULL refund as im not wasting my time driving all the way just to...

Ibis is my favorite vacation spot and this year I stayed in Hadeda cottage. It features a large veranda overlooking the bush and river, comfortably furnished with plenty of space. From dawn to dusk a large variety of birds can be seen and heard - heaven for bird watchers! The constant burbling of the river nearby is very relaxing and, to add to this little piece of heaven, there is the spa where I've had the best body scrub and massage to be found in Johannesburg. The owners are super friendly and helpful, the cottage very well equipped and I left there wishing I could stay another week! If you're looking for peace and quiet, surrounded by natural beauty , this is the place to go. Ibis also features one of the world's largest labyrinths, designed to assist with healing - I was skeptical at first but after completing the 2km journey, I must admit it was an amazing experience and I highly recommend it. Especially after the almost 2 years we've had with Covid and all the stresses that...

Wow, wow, wow.... What a treat! This is not a modern place, but has everything you need. Far enough from everything that you feel as though you have escaped, but bring everything you need, as you can not just jump in the car and take a drive to the nearest shop. The road to get here is a bumpy and rocky long dirt road, but once you are here, you won't be sorry. Order your hot or continental breakfast ahead of time and agree on a time for it to be served at your chalet. We had the hot breakfast, and it is delicious. Saturday afternoon lounging in the jacuzzi, followed by a couples full body message. You can order a cheese platter that is set up for you to enjoy on your return to your chalet. Take a walk in the labyrinth for a spiritual experience or enjoy a walk along the Crocodile River, or just relax and revive your mind,...

A perfect romantic weekend getaway just 35km from Joburg. We loved it and Ilse was the most wonderful host! Nestled in the Magalies mountains right next to the crocodile River is this secluded and tree rich property. Our luxurious unit, Hornbill, was spacious, clean, private and is well designed with a bath for 2. With your own outside braai, fireplace inside for winter, and private Jacuzzi, supplied firewood and feather downs dovet this was a home away from home (with no kids :) The sparkling pool can be enjoyed while hearing the river rush behind you. We were we stranded here on Sunday due to rain flooding the bridge and Ilse supplied lunch on the house as we didn't have enough food. Thanx you for a memorable weekend xxx

An amazing place to get away out of the city. The gravel getting there is not fitting for a normal car, especially in the last stretch, definitely recommend going there with a crossover or SUV. Cabin was a little house that had everything you need! And you have your own outdoor area where you can walk down to the river. You have your braai area. No TV in the room (so perhaps take games with) and no Telkom network (for anyone attached to their phone). Would definitely go back, and do a longer stay!
