Came to little mongena for a one night stay after staying one night at mongena main lodge, I was as with my best friend and our 2 dads so we had a tent between each family which was made into twin beds for our arrival. ||We were taken from main lodge to the tented camp and given a safety brief where we told the camp is unfenced from the wild animals so during the day we could walk around freely but in the evening we would need to have a guide from the main area to our tents in case of any visitors which may wander into the camp!||Overall the tents were an experience of the true African bush life which our dads wanted to experience, yes there are bugs and it was very loud when it came to bedtime but that can be expected out in the wilderness so take your ear plugs! We were woken up by a grumbling hippo in the morning before our drive which was interesting! Again the beds were comfy and there was a whole bathroom with toilet and warm powerful shower which was rather surprising. The main area was clean and tidy and food was lovely although a smaller selection than the main lodge but I think mainly down to smaller facilities. ||Our guide at the tented camp was called Rebecca and she was fantastic, very friendly and knowledgable about the animals and where she might find them and again ensured we saw some brilliant animals. When we returned from our evening drive the main camp had been set up for a traditional bush dinner with a campfire in the middle, this was lovely as we got to experience a boma dinner under the moonlight. There were insects flying around but when you get over that and enjoy the experience it really is once in a lifetime. ||I am glad I didn’t stay in the tented camp for more than 1 night but that is purely down to personal preference and my liking to luxury rather than basic but I would 100% recommend it to anyone, as I said it’s an experience you don’t...
Read moreLittle Mongena ...what a wonderful place. We had a wonderful and fulfilled weekend 12-15 Feb 2021. We had a Hot Air Baloon tripped booked that was cancelled by the pilot, and was very disappointed, but the fun and game drives we had made up for our diappointment. To Duncan the manager and his staff, thank you very much for making us feel so welcome. The food is absolutely a 10/10. Tents very well equipped and clean. The game drives was absolutely the best , Hendrik the Ranger really went out of his way to show us as much as possible even in the rain, his knowledge about birds, grass, trees, wild flowers and animals are fantastic and he is a pleasant person. Our overall experience at Little Mongena is a 10/10. We will definitely go back again. Thank you...
