Mhulu Signature Boutique Hotel — Hotel in Gauteng

Jane is a sweetheart. The place is a little hard to find, I had three Uber drivers get upset with me because the place wasn’t easily accessible. Not the fault of Mhulu, certainly. Upon arrival I was asked to sit and wait while they work on my booking, a slight inconvenience, but nothing to ruffle any feathers over. I was then informed that neither the hot tub nor the restaurant and breakfast service is available, this was disappointing to me. After arriving in my room, I noticed one of the windows was broken, and I’d be unable to sleep that way. When I inquired about it, I was greeted with kindness and understanding by Jane. She then upgraded me to a better room and assured me that she’ll be there if I need anything else. The room was lovely. The bathroom had a stunning shower and a gorgeous claw foot bathtub, which I adore. The toilet paper was halfway used up and the hand soap dispenser was empty. They refilled it easily enough upon request. The bed was pretty squeaky and the headboard moved quite a bit. There weren’t any electrical outlets for the bedside lamps, which is fine for me because I don’t like much light, but made it incredibly difficult to charge my phone and my laptop while still having access to them. I also had to move the coffee equipment to the opposite end of the room to access electrical outlets. None of this is too problematic, but certainly not ideal. Later I learned that they have a rule that says you have to leave the light on outside your room…this meant that light came into my room and I didn’t get the best sleep. Jane was always kind and helpful whenever possible. There are only two staff members there, which can make it difficult for them to see to customers. I had this experience when I wanted to checkout and no one was available for about 30 minutes. Overall, this place is really lovely. They have a lot of incredible plans and expansions they’re working on, and I truly believe it’ll be incredible once they’re done. It’s a beautiful setting, the pool is clean, and the lawn is green and mowed. The bar area and rec room is really lovely and the design is awesome. Arrived and was greeted by friendly staff. Checked in but had to wait for room servicing to be completed. Room was less than expected and May have been my fault as far as not reading all the info. It was one room with small area sectioned off for the loo and another for the bath. There were several lights that did not work and a number of plug points also not working. There was one small bin by the loo. No chairs and no power point by the kettle so it had to be moved to the bedside to boil. There was no fridge at all and no backup power when load shedding. On the 19/03/2021 my lil sisters friends booked at the place, Mhulu was told that the girls will be having a birthday celebration he than said he can only accommodate 25 people due to Covid. The calculation were made and payment was made for the accommodation, on the day of the party he than says R2000 must be paid for the Venue. Days before when they came to view the place he said nothing about R2000 that needs to be paid . The girls than left the place after 10pm .They decided not to sleep at the accommodation, in the morning when they came to take their bags the guy came a re they must clean their rooms, that time these girls paid .
