323 Kusweg Tergniet Accommodation — Hotel in George

Mediocrity, unprofessionalism and what I see as dishonesty make for 1 star. A place best avoided. As to price, my 40+ years of travel experience and some hotel ownership translates to a roomy but mediocre place for what is paid. It is not well equipped, unless 7 blunt knives, 3 blunt scissors, not even a French press for coffee, etc. is your thing. The patio is unusable as it faces the prevailing winds. Patio furniture is worn and the sofas septic. Braai grids were filthy with several previous occupants' marinades still on it. Welcomed by a person telling one all her personal issues in stead of being professional was uncomfortable. Then, after an inspection before departure (you may not leave before they inspected) which got a clean bill, 3 days later, I was blamed for ‘damages’ and met with a refusal to refund my deposit. The ‘damages’ were some things that were defective and reported as such on arrival, and even damage to equipment we never used nor touched. E.g. some paint was allegedly on furniture, while we never had or handled paint, damage to chairs we never used. I wonder if this is how the owners habitually make extra money? I had to initiate litigation to get my deposit back. A story that will stick is when I asked for fresh linen as we booked for 2 weeks, we were told “it is a self-catering place, you must wash it yourself”. A first for me. Never again!!!!!! We had an amazing stay at this holiday home in Groot Brak River! The house was exceptionally clean and beautifully decorated with a modern touch. The location is unbeatable—just across the road from the stunning white sandy beach, making it perfect for a relaxing getaway.

With two braai areas, we were spoiled for choice, and the breathtaking views overlooking the Indian Ocean and Mossel Bay made every moment special. The location also makes it a great base for exploring the Garden Route and surrounding towns, adding even more to the experience.

A special mention to our host, Dina, who was fantastic with her communication and always just a phone call away for any questions or issues. Her hospitality made our stay even more enjoyable.

Honestly, for my next visit to the Eastern Cape, I won’t even bother looking for other accommodation—this will be my first point of call.

This is a beautiful well stocked home in an amazing location. Being able to walk across onto the beach was wonderful and you can hear the waves at night. It was a bit cold in winter but there are plenty of blankets around! We did run out of electricity- as a family of 5 we would hope there is enough electricity paid up to last. In saying that we contacted Dina and she was instantly on it and topping it up. Also hot water for a family of 5 could be increased we struggled to have 2 showers in a row.
